Reputable jeweler in NY/NJ area

I am looking for an engagement ring, and found a Scott Kay setting, but need to find a diamond. Can someone recommend a jeweler in my area who they trust.

By the way, was shown a traded in GIA cert. diamond, G color, 1.33 carat, good-good and I guess decent measurements. The jeweler want $7,400. Should I just buy it?
