Replacing a calibré cut stone in a setting

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has experience with replacing an individual calibré cut gemstone on a setting. I have a beautiful antique cushion cut diamond in a emerald Art Deco target setting but one of the emeralds in the target is a dud. It's clear and dark and sticks out every time I look at it like a bad tooth. The emeralds are bezel set and quite small. Is this a repair that can be done within reason or does the setting make it a lost cause?

So this got zero replies but this seems to be a rather reasonable question as these halos are common in Art Deco jewelry and are made of soft gemstones that are prone to abrasions and cracking with long term wear. In case someone is searching the forums at some point with a similar question, I can attest that it is actually reasonably easy and affordable to have these stone replaced as long as you have a jeweler that has a lapidary that can cut the stones specially to fit in your ring. It turned out to be about $75-$100 per custom cut stone. And of course, you will want a quality jeweler who is capable of opening the bezel and closing it without evidence that it was modified. Viola!
