I have this Platinum Tacori ring on order with a 7mm CZ. If the other half likes it, we will start searching for a (roughly) 1.25ct diamond. I know you can't tell width by ct count, as some are wider than others, but how much mm to mm room can the jeweler change this setting?

I've read that it's safer to bend the setting to a slightly smaller stone than to go larger, is this true?

Thanks

Ask your jeweller.

I think you''d be safe with a 7mm stone, don''t know how the setting would look with a much smaller stone, and certainly wouldn''t work with a larger stone IMO. Beautiful setting btw!

I would try to get the diamond as close to 7mm as possible. Larger wouldn''t work and I''ve seen gemstones mounted that were smaller than the setting and they looked pretty bad. Your ring is lovely.

best to ask a jeweler. some stock settings will allow for a 1-1.5 carat stone, as an example so that setting *may* have some wiggle room. however, I''d really suggest finding a tacori dealer and having them send the setting and stone to tacori to set. i just wouldn''t risk someone local working on it. i feel that way about any designer setting though.

Thanks for all the help.
