In my opinion, it is worth it. For us. We went through a lot of mishaps with our beach house kitchen renovation. But when it was all said and done it was worth it. Today is 4 years from the date we did our renovations IIRC. And we have a beautiful kitchen which we enjoy multiple times a day. So yes, for my dh and I it was more than worth it. Despite the aggravation along the way. The aggravation was temporary but our beautiful kitchen will last many years.
And when we gut renovated our NYC co-op it was completely worth it. But that contractor did (almost) everything right and did everything he said he was going to do within the time frame he said he was going to do it. A rare bird indeed. But he did tell us at the very beginning we could get two out of three. And the two we chose were an easy choice for us.
1. Renovation well done
2. Completed on time
3. Within the budget
We chose one and two obviously lol. We were young and we worked hard and it was well worth the extra money spent to have our renovations done to our excellent (and the contractor's excellent) requirements and done within the time frame as we had sold our current home and had to move in by a certain date. It worked out and it was because of our wonderful contractor that it did. But yes we went over budget. And it was worth it to us. I have no false expectations that should be begin another renovation that it would go so smoothly. I give all the credit to our contractor. We lucked out. Though I did do my due diligence before hiring him. And hiring him was challenging because he never returned calls. But once we got him he was conscientious and reliable and easy to get in touch with as he gave us his mobile number and always answered it when we called. Thank you Michael!
