My fiance''s family has given me a lovely 1.32ct princess cut white diamond to serve as my e-ring. Originally, I was going in an entirely different direction (which has now become a right hand ring.) The problem is that because the stone is not at all my own, I''d like the setting to reflect me. We have come up with the idea of spending the money we were going to invest in buying the ring and mount into creating a special setting, and I would like a custom platinum setting -- but I do not know where to turn to for the work to be done. I enjoy Tacori, but I''ve seen one too many of them, and would absolutely have to have one custom made that drifted away from the small assortment of settings they offer. I''ve also heard of renaissance platinum, who I''ve heard by reputation does a more careful, hand-crafted designs. Does anyone know of any good, used/trusted platinum designers? I will probably be looking for an elaborate setting for a three stone, with etching/engraving down the sides as opposed to diamonds flanking the sides of the ring.
If anyone can link me to jewelers who can help me sketch out a design, who have done clean, even, reliable, beautiful work, let me know! I feel like a HuGE part of what is special about an e-ring is being taken away from be in having no choice in the diamond (it is a good stone), and I really want to stake my claim in a setting that shows the diamond in a new light.
