Removing black rhodium plating

Hi, I just purchased a beautiful champagne diamond band with round and baguette diamonds. The prongs are black rhodium plated though, and I think I would like it better if the prongs were yellow gold like the rest of the ring. Is it possible for a jeweler to remove the rhodium or do I have to let it wear away? Thanks!!

I personally have never come across a piece like what you've described, but I do know in the past we've had clients with yellow gold rings plated in rhodium, as well as white pieces plated in yellow gold, and they wanted the coating removed. The bench was able to do it, so I would imagine that it would be the same process. Typically if it's a plating, it can be removed, but I really don't know about the oxidized coatings.

You could possibly plate yellow gold over the rhodium if removing it fails
