London, UK based, new to this site and novice!

What would you do?
I have a brilliant with small emerald rim, platinum mount with insignificant sparkle at mount shaft, given to my grandmother in 1918, probably 1.25 ct. I like the ring very much but a) the ring band size is too small and the ring itself looks a little "small".

Would you a) enlarge the band to fit and b) increase the ring in any way? One of the tiny emeralds is missing and I am not sure how secure the fitting is.

Many thanks for your advice and guidance!

Maybe you could post a photo?

Are you planning on wearing it every day?

I would take it to a jeweler to have prongs etc checked.

What''s a brilliant with an emerald rim? A round brilliant? Can we try the descriptions once again?

many thanks! I will reply properly after I have photographed the ring later today.

Is it the ring in your AV? If so I LOVE it and would do everything I cold to restore it. It would be a shame to sell or change your grandmother''s ring. I feel like you would regret it later.

I love it too! The abolute maximum I would do, and I would do this if and only if a very skilled designer could do it while making it look part of the original ring, would be to add a second halo with pave single cuts around the emeralds to increase the finger coverage, then re-shank it with more single cut pave it to size it up... and I''m not even sure I''d do that.

Another vote to keep that gorgeous ring as it is, but have the missing emerald replaced and have the band sized to fit. Have you had the ring cleaned by a jeweler at all? That is guaranteed to show you its full sparkle potential. An elderly relative gave me a ring that had been sitting unworn in her jewel box. I had it cleaned, and it turned into a real dazzler.
