Religious icon coin inside costume ring

Can anybody give me some info on why this marcasite costume ring would have this tiny religious icon coin inside the mount?

It is a pilgrinage token. These do get inserted into jewelry much like other coins might.
Google Image Search might track down the model to a particular tradition ...

For what it's worth, based on the image alone, my guess would be it's of one of the following: Saint Monica, Saint Clare of Assisi, or Saint Thérèse of Lisieux
