Hi All!
I have been looking through this site for a little bit trying to educate myself about diamonds and about a diamond I recently purchased. First let me say this site is GREAT for people like me who are looking to learn about purchasing diamonds and what to look for. With that being said, I am no expert and I was a little confused by a recent post and how it compares to my diamond.
There was a post by Rstillin regarding his GIA certified diamond and how his proportions, although seemingly good, gave him a cut grade of "fair". (sorry, I dont know how to cut and paste his certificate that he posted) This thread resulted in a longer thread regarding GIA rounding which is a little above me.
So my first question is:
Why did I receive an excellent cut grade versus his fair? when the numbers seem close (at least to me)?
Rstillin: depth (60.2%); table (57%); thin to medium faceted; cutlet none; (pol/sym -good/very good ); Crown angle (35); crown height (15%); pav. angle (40.
; pav. depth (43); star length (50%); lower half (80%).
Mine: depth (62.3%); table (55%); med to sl thick faceted; cutlet none; (pol/sym - ex/ex); Crown angle (35); crown height (16%); pav. angle (40.
; pav. depth (42.5); star length (55%); lower half (75%).
My second question is:
Without having access to a hearts and arrows scope, is there any way to tell my the numbers above if its an H&A diamond?
