Hi everyone,

I'm looking at a diamond with "Reflecting surface graining" and internal graining. Does this pose any kind of problem for it's structural integrity? What is the difference?

It is a VVS2 so am I correct to think that it would not be a real clarity issue?

The graining is not shown in the certificate (0.9 carat, GIA certified).

Excellent/ideal cut, H colour, faint flour.

Do you think this graining will be any kind of issue?

Thanks

...and no, I don't have any photos... sorry

not at VVS2, no

FWIW I took a pic of the internal graining in my Fancy Deep Purplish Pink Emerald Cut diamond.
This diamond was graded VVS1 by GIA.
Internal graining was noted in the report's comments section, but I've never seen graining plotted on the inclusion plots.

When viewed face up the color of this diamond is smooth and even, no graining lines are visible even under 10x.
I do not know what internal graining looks like in a white diamond.
I'm curious.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a clarity issue".
If you mean a possible mechanical/durability issue as in feathers, the industry's pretty word for cracks, I believe graining does not mechanically weaken a diamond.
If you mean can graining be a mind-clean issue, then only you can say but VVS2 is extremely high clarity ... if the grade is issued by GIA or AGS.
