Recycling bracelet into necklace

Beautiful reset into something you will enjoy!

Love this length on you, and it looks like a beautiful job of stringing!

Did you manufacture the clasps yourself?!

Yes, I soldered some sterling wire into a hook and eye type closure.
Then a little filing and polishing.
I do a bit of silversmithing as a hobby.
I looked at all kinds of clasps at the craft store, but I didn't like any of them.

That’s so cool! How did you learn silver smithing? I’d love to learn to do that as well but it seems to intimidating to get started

About 17 years ago, I took a crash course in silversmithing.
An acquaintance, a nice lady from the Zuni Pueblo here in NM,
showed me the basics.
I was on my own after that. I read a lot of books, watched YouTube videos, cracked stones and melted a lot of prongs before I got better at it!
I post a lot of my work over on the Colored Stones forum.

Great job!

DK :appl:

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments on the knotting!
I used the Japanese technique. It is really easy, and no slack in between the pearls.
I have a few more projects in mind for this coming weekend.

Excellent stringing work! Really well done, and enjoy your new (old?) piece in good health!

I appreciate your comments!
I tried to go slow and be very neat about the whole thing.

Beautiful set and reimagining into something you’ll enjoy! Perfect size pearls too! Are they in the 8-9mm range?

Yes, they are in that range. You have a good eye!
I will finally wear them now.

Soooo coolio! I'd love to learn some silversmithing (and goldsmithing is likely similar but a gazillion time more expensive?) skills. The "jump ring" you made is one of my all-time fave designs for a jump ring. I'm so impressed!

Great job! You rock!

Here's another clasp I made last week for a strand of baroque akoyas, with a chain extender.

I was looking at some good quality FW pearl strands online, when I suddenly remembered this bracelet. Why should I spend $$$ on a new necklace, when I already have some great pearls that I can restring? So I got a new necklace, for the price of some beading cord from the craft store!

Thanks, Lisa!
I don't have as many strands as you, but I'm working on it!
And this time, I kept the cat away while I was working on it.
