Hi,

I thought I would show a recent recut of a spinel.

This was from Gary at diamondexpert.com 3.00 carats and measured 8.36 x 10.22mm. I loved the pale pink and the size

It turned out like this. After the recut, the stone weighs 2.19 carats and measures 7.73 x 9.43mm.

It turned out beautifully!!!

Here''s one of my pictures, this one is hard to capture on camera. I''m happy with the end result and would definitely have a bigger bargain stone recut again

Thanks for looking!

Dan did a beautiful job, it is beautiful and I love the color. How will you set it???

Thank you for your kind words geckodani, Lauren, D&T and Linda W. I will have it set in Sally of HeartofWaterJewels'' pill boxdesign. I''m really excited about this one!!!

Lovely!

WOW that''s amazing.

It looks like he just modified the pavillion to save on weight I would imagine and to close up any window. Is that the case?

OOoo. Can''t wait to see it done!

LOVE the recut - absolutely spectacular

It''ll look great in the pillbox!

Hi TL,

I didn''t see the stone before, so it''s hard to say. This is what Dan wrote: "The bottom was not bad to cut, but the top was a nightmare because it had been originally cut to be extremely shallow. I had to fight with that a lot, so it took me longer to cut it than I would have anticipated."

So I''m assuming he did cut the top too. But he was really happy with the face up size

I think he just did good work!

Thankyou for sharing my excitement princessplease, Stone Hunter, tourmaline_lover, MakingTheGrade, AmberGretchen and Chrono. It''s so nice to share with you all.

Chrono. I agree. The pillbox setting is beyond perfect for this one. I was searching and searching for the right setting. But when I saw the pillbox, it was an instant match.

Beautiful recut and it will look great in that ring design!!

Wow. I''m glad Dan could fix it up for you. It looks great. And I haven''t seen a pillbox yet in anything but round so this will be super awesome to see!

Congrats on such a lovely stone.

Thankyou Catmom and cinnamon013!

I received my ring from Sally. The whole process of having the ring made and talking to Sally has been a delight. The ring is lovely, with great detail. It''s dainty and the shank is tiny, and the rings feel wonderful when stacked.

The spinel is beautiful, and so amazingly dispersive, that when I was out in the park the other day, I felt I had a huge pink diamond in the ring.

The filigree part of the ring has a matte finish. In real life it accentuates the pastel of the stone beautifully.

Gorgeous!!!

The spinel shifts nuances from a saturated pastel pink to very very light. This picture is taken when I shade the stone with my hand.

It''s gorgeous!!

Pastel spinels are definitely on my list of future gem buys

I just love it in that setting. Perfect for the stone. Congrats!!

Wow, I missed the recut thread, but it turned out beautifully - I''m such a sucker for pale pinks! The ring really showcases the stone - all in all, a gorgeous piece. And, I think some of the joy of a new ring comes from having put it together yourself.

It''s beautiful!!!!

I really think that the Ballerina likes being in this setting, they're made for each other
