You need to have someone (if you can see the diamonds in person, that would be best - if not, ask the jeweler) to look at the diamonds and confirm that the stones are eye clean. Eye clean means that you can't see the inclusions with your naked eye. This is really important since all the diamonds you are looking at are SI2s and visible inclusions in SI2 stones are common.

You should request Idealscopes from your jeweler to gauge light performance as well.

I am buying it online thorough blue Nile
I thought the cert show inclusion, isn't it??

Sure, they show where the inclusions are, but they don't tell you whether or not they're visible to the naked eye. Blue Nile will ask the jeweler for you whether or not the stone is eye clean. Keep in mind that the jeweler is motivated to make the sale. Blue Nile also charges for return shipping (which isn't a lot but can add up if you keep returning stones).

For SI2s, I would really try to get a picture of the stone to see for myself.

Thanks for the reply!
With the three choices above
Which one would u guys recommend?

Have you used the HCA calculator yet? I'd pick the one that scored below 2. https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca

I would not choose any of those choices without confirmation that it is eye clean.

I'm wondering how, since the GIA doesn't use the term, diamonds like these are determined to be "ideal" cut.

Would si1 has much greater chance for eye clean??

Yes, a SI1 would have a greater chance of being eye clean than a SI2. I know people have purchased eye clean SI1s from BN before, but it's still risky. If I were purchasing from BN, I would not go lower than VS2 (but I am risk adverse).

Have you look at diamonds on James Allen? They have pictures of their diamonds on the side so you can see for yourself. There are some other vendors I would look at before I go to BN (B2C Jewels, GOG, IDJ, BGD, WF, etc).

HCA is for AGS , IGI and GIA Prior to 2006. GIA uses the term excellent AGS uses ideal. :appl:

James Allen seems to be a good site with actual photo. Are they reliable and compeptitive in price?

I have no personally bought an e ring i believe that several ps think they are competative. I stalk WF, JA , B2B, GOG and Blue Nile . I find WF has nice selection a little more expensive. I just like JA because you can turn your stone 360 and see it from all sides. I would still call them to make sure it is eye clean above the surface issues.

Yes! I love James Allen. I purchased my diamond from them and could not have been more pleased with their service. You pick 3 diamonds and they will have a gemologist evaluate them for you and give you idealscopes on them. You can post the Idealscopes to PS for more input after you receive them. They limit the number of Idealscopes to 3 though, so choose your diamonds wisely. I'd pick 3 diamonds in your price range that score under 2.0 on the HCA and look eye clean from the videos.

Also, ask them for the Pricescope discount which is normally 1-5% off the listed price.

So I have been looking on James Allen
I noticed most of the si2 diamonds are not eye clean
However I am looking at the pictures which are under 40x magnification.
In reality, am I going to see the inclusions?

Most SI2 are not eye clean. Lucky folks find clean enough SI2 where the inclusions can be hidden under a prong when set.

You will have better luck finding an eyeclean SI1 and even at that you have to be careful.

VS1 you are pretty much guaranteed to have eyeclean. I have seen several VS2 that are not eye clean to me especially the ones with feathers on the table that reflect at certain views.

Try to have a look at some stones in real life first. I have an si2 and it's totally eye clean to me. Whether it would be to other pricescopers I don't know.

I know every diamond is obv different but looking at some in real life will give you an idea of what you are sensitive to which will help you a lot in an online search

JA will verify whether or not the stone is eye clean (to their specifications) once you put the stone on hold and ask for a gemologist's opinion and Idealscopes. You can also use the online chat feature while you're looking at a diamond and ask a representative for his/her opinion on whether or not the stone is eye clean (they'll judge from the video so it's not 100% accurate, but it will help you decide if you want further evaluation or not).

Eye clean SI2s are really quite rare but some people don't mind having inclusions they can see only occasionally. I once picked an SI2 off of JA and they told me the inclusions were generally not visible, but a person looking for them would be able to find them. I decided against it.

If I were to choose si1 and go for lower colour from f to g. How big the difference would be for ideal cut diamond?

I think it depends on how color sensitive you are. Most people can't tell the difference between stones that are just one color grade apart though. You probably won't be able to tell from the face up position, color is more apparent from the pavilion.

Probably not going to find many G SI1 for the same price as F SI2. Look at H color, too.

Hopefully you can find a true Hearts and Arrows MRB in your budget...some of these are higher but the 1.12 G si1 with med. bl. fl. looks like the nicest. Here are some comparisons and you can see the inclusions and ask how they will affect the eye cleaness:

You can know that a true H & A will be a great performing stone.

http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/round-cut//CaratFrom:0.96|CaratTo:10.00|Cut:TrueHearts|PriceFrom:400|PriceTo:999000|Sort:Price%20asc%20,DefaultOrder|TabSelected:3||DiamondID:181423,200936,200934,200969,200939

Of the stones you posted it would depend on if they were eye clean or not and then you would need an Idealscope to test for leakage to see which one performs the best.

You can also check GoodOldGold.com

Briangavin
and White Flash for H & A diamonds.

Good luck in your search!

I can see the inclusions in the picture but maybe they're not noticeable blown up. It only scores 3.0 on the HCA which isn't ideal. It's up to you - if you want to keep investigating the stone, ask the jeweler for an Idealscope.

Anymore input guys??
