Is this the G vs1 1.76 stone? How much was it? Can't see price as you've reserved it.

Edit: is this the 18k plus stone? It looks like a great stone but I wouldn't pay that much for that carat weight. Unless you're in dire need for a G I would spend my money on a well cut eyeclean H Vs2/si1 and save >3k. Don't pick based on online videos, go into the store and look at lots of GIA / AGS certified G/H stone (in a back lit room). You may find (as with most people) that the difference is far too insignificant and save yourself lots of money. Especially in a well cut MRB solitaire.

really like this one:

For upgrade policy:

Just illustrating that there are Vs2 options which are <3k less and some are G as well
Thanks for the inputs gm89uk. Yes, it's 18k plus stone. I would be interested to know what others have to say on what you brought up. Its kind of personal choice I think but still... I did visit Zales over the weekend and I think I saw a G/VS2 there and it was not that spectacular to me. They had limited choices and that's the only piece I put my hands on.

Cut we can focus on online. just go to assess colour and see if you are sensitive to any tint in H. Bear in mind well cut stones reflect light more effectively so face up more white!

Zales doesn't have Gia graded stones. (And probably not well cut ones either).

You will have to decide your color tolerance. If you want to save money and look at an H, then you'll be back to researching. If you are asking whether the g was a good price then you have just as much info as the rest of us. Just look at prices of similar stones that are well cut. There will be different prices for g stones even. And a lot of times you be able to narrow down to why in looking at the cut quality.

I would caution you against going down the rabbit hole of "deal searching". There are no deals in diamonds. They cost a lot, and then for boutique cuts like Whiteflash or Brian Gavin or High Performance Diamonds that are guaranteed performers, they tend to run even a little more.

I think I am most likely going for the 1.76 G/VS1 stone from JA.

Just for comparison, I tried finding similar stones with AGS/GIA grading, and they were in similar price range. There is always 30 day return policy, so I am kind of not that much worried about it.

Any final comments ?

Bunnycat, I actually went to Fink's store over the weekend and like everyone suspected, I couldn't differentiate between F and H ( She didn't take out the diamonds from the display boxes though, and they were VS2 both I think ). I was not impressed by my eyes but at the same time, I think it made me realize that I can reach around 2 c mark with shelling a bit more. So I asked JA to release that stone and I am back in market for a G/H with VS2/SI1. They actually are getting one for me in store to take a look if I like it - a H / SI1. I have ordered the IS also from Datlas so it should be here in a day or so. I will update this thread when I have more details.
As always, thank you all for your support during this rather lengthy process.

Good luck on the continuing search! The IS will help you out a lot. Are they bringing in a GIA stone then? You can still post the report info here and even the idealscope image you take. You'll have to take it with your phone camera lens sitting on top of the viewer. It's a little bit on an acrobatic exercise, but definitely doable.

While I am waiting for the weekend, what are your thoughts on this piece :
Its slightly over 2c, G/VS1 with Ex cut, polish, sym and no floro. Eye clean and GIA graded, ~$23k

That is a beautiful diamond and I'm sure it'll be a great performer. Table is a touch higher than I like but it'll be great. However at that price range I'd rather take a super ideal with a sound upgrade policy. If those images are B2C they have 20 percent restocking fee.

I'd rather stick just under 2ct and get something like this.
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3664931.htm
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3203551.htm equal price

You don't need vs1 to get eye clean, especially when inspected by a reputable vendor like whiteflash. There are VS2 expert selections at that price range

I think it looks fine. If you don't think you'll ever go through the upgrade process again, you could consider it. If you do think you might upgrade again some time, check the vendors upgrade policy.
