Recommendation for Ring Styles

I would offer this suggestion http://maevona.com/product/MVA17_ENS I think it's one of my favorite solitaire settings ever. Someone on here has it and it just floors me how stunning it is in pictures. I modeled my semi bezel chrysoberyl ring after it-have had it for 2 years and still adore it. Being me, I like modern with the unexpected, so I'd put an AVR or OEC in it-that would funk it up w/out being crazy.

As an aside, I see Maevona has redone their website so I know what I'll be doing after the gym tonight..

Would she like a black diamond? My husband's best friend bought a black diamond ring from Etsy for his fiance and she's in love. Not my cup of tea but it's perfect for her.

I know this might be a bit boring but what about a plain solitare, then have her pick out some funky wedding stacker bands?

This. When in doubt, go with a classic simple setting. She can change it later or dress it up as Sarabear suggests.

I *love* the East-West emerald-cut Singlestone ring posted by Woofmama on the 1st page (for some reason PS will not let me re-post it here) - this, or something like this, would be a perfect blend of classic white diamond but with an unexpected twist.

As others have mentioned, "Goth/wearing lots of black" does not automatically equate to favoring ornate jewelry or antique styles; if it is difficult for your friend to get a true fix on his GF's style for an ER (which is not necessarily the same as what is preferred in fashion jewelry), I echo DS's suggestion to go with a temp setting.

Oh dear, I think that just because she dresses goth doesn't mean that she'll want a gothic type setting. My friend is goth-nerd (black clothes, dark hair, dark makeup and loves star wars) and she has a Tiffany Legacy e-ring....Just saying, maybe play it safe? Or somehow get more information about her wants for an e-ring.

I wanted to add another of my all time favorite ring designers: http://www.gelinabaci.com/ I love, love, love these rings!
I have been stalking their website for two years. If I get a round diamond I'm 99% sure I'll set it in the TR195.
This counts as edgy in my book

Agree with previous posts that clothing style does not always equal jewelry style. Just look at Avril Lavigne's ERs - both first and second choices are opposite of what I would expect someone who dresses like her would pick as ER.

Charmy, I have seen Maevona in person and they are really really special. Delicate and fluid but with a hit of the unique. I think its a great designer for a woman who is a little edgy. They are $$ thought.

I'm inclined to agree with a solitaire because if she was particularly looking for something else she would have probably dropped hints. I will say though she sounds like someone who would appreciate a little bit of a twist. EW set something or kite set something ( shape dependent of course)
