I know that everyone says Tacori is overpriced, but I have fallen in love with the Mermaid collection. I''ve had a lot of trouble finding Tacori prices on the web, so I investigated this week at a B&M.

He had the exact Tacori rings I''m after, even in my size of 6.5.
1) The mermaid band (1 carat diamonds all the way around the band)
2) The mermaid semi-mount with no side stones (also 1 carat diamonds all the way around the band)

After spending close to an hour in the store, looking and talking, he offered both of them for a price of $5,100. He told me he could do that because he had them in stock, but that to order a different size, or with diamonds only halfway around, would require to him to special order. That meant a 4-6 week wait, plus not as good a deal.

Do you all think the $5100 price for the band & semi-mount is a good deal?

Thanks for any input or advice!

Depending on which one you are looking at, it could be the same one that I have seen, the price may be a little high. I was quoted about that price for a tacori setting in a B&M. I believe that their price is on high side but am not certain. I am like you, looking, and am in no way close to an expert. I'll follow this thread as it could be beneficial to both of us. I likewise post any info that I find. Good luck

The problem with accepting the ring that the jeweler has on hand is that Tacori sets cubic zirconia's as center stones as "place holders" and the girdle thickness for a CZ is thicker than the girdle edge on the average diamond and the end result is that your diamond will get loose all the time. Better to order the ring made fresch for your center stone... We're an authorized Tacori retailer, we agree completely with the concept of not having the diamonds go all the way around the bottom of the band, the rings can not be effectively sized when the diamonds go all the way around the band - it messes up the pattern.

Faedras,

Here's a link to the band/semi-mount I'm looking at.

Is this the same one you've seen at a lower price? I'm going to call some Tacori dealers in a city further away from me to get a comparison, plus call a couple of online dealers. Hopefully then I'll have a clearer picture.

Robin & Todd,

The semi-mount in the B&M doesn't have a CZ in it, so I think I'm OK there. But I do worry about having diamonds all the way around the band. You'll likely be getting a call from me in the next couple of days to talk & get an idea of prices.

Thanks!

As a point of reference I looked at solomonbrothers.com and billbarnes.com. They both had a good bit of tacori.

I posted the previous before I saw your reply. That is not the ring that I saw in the store. However, I have seen it on one of the two sites I previously posted.

Robin and Todd

It must look like we planned this double posting on Tacori at the same time. I look foward to hearing from you two as well. I was told not to go with diamonds all the way around too. I like the look but will it be a problem in the future?
