Hi, I've been a long time lurker, but this is my first time posting, so please bear with me.
I've been looking for stone and setting for a princess-cut halo setting in around 1.3ct to 1.5ct range. The budget is around 10k usd but can be a little flexible.
After some days of searching, I've been looking at these two stones:
1. http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/1.35-carat-e-color-vs2-clarity-sku-726335
2. http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/1.51-carat-h-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-721745
And as for the setting, I'm looking for something that looks similar to Tiffany's soleste with princess cut
http://www.tiffany.com/engagement/r...-t+-ni+1-x+-pu+-f+false+2-lr+-hr+-ri+-mi+-pp+
and the closest I could find at JA was
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagemen...etite-diamond-halo-engagement-ring-item-41066
with princess-cut center stone
but it seems way thicker than ideal. (2mm as opposed to close to 1.5mm which I'm looking for)
So two questions:
1) which of the two stones is better? One thing to note is that my gf is Korean and apparently in Korea they only import GIA diamonds of DEF colors and anything below drops in price very steeply. If you have other suggestions for the stone, please let me know as well.
2) Would it be possible to talk to a customer rep at JA to make the setting thinner and the stone set a little higher like the soleste? I know there can be a level of customization with JA, but I don't know if I'm asking for too much. If there are any other suggestions for the princess cut halo setting, please let me know as well. I also liked the Danhov Abbraccio AE100, but I don't want to spend too much on the setting alone.
In the past few months, I really learned a lot from all of you on diamonds and how there's much more to them than just the 4C's. So, thank you so much, and if you have time, help the distressed dude out please. Thank you!
