I think I got a really good deal on this, I was working on the guy for about an hour or so. The independant appraiser complimented me on the great price I got on the ring. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Outstanding price, on both the diamond and the semi-mounting.

Congratulations. You've won the PriceScope Negotiator of the Month award.

Congratulations on the ring (and the engagement) as well. Great way to start out a new life.

WOW! Sounds like a nice ring - and big side stones.

Pictures please!!!!

P.S. I'm always looking for places to buy diamonds in the district. Care to share who you bought the center stone from and address? thanks

Thanks all. She is still in shock over the engagement.

I purchased the stone and setting at
Malidani Jewelry
77 W47 street
the owners name is David. They were very professional and easy to work with. I am so happy with them that the day after we got engaged, me an my fiance went back to thank him in person.

Beautiful - thanks for the pic! I bet she'll be waving that hand around for a while catching all the reflections (from the lights and onlookers) she can!
Thanks for the bus. name and addy. I'll visit them next time I'm in the city.

Wow, looks like you got quite a deal! It's refreshing to hear such a positive experience from someone who has discovered this sight after the fact. Often we hear from people after the fact that think they may have gotten taken on the purchase. Nice work!!

P.S. Congratulations on your engagement!

Great purchase and congrats!! I also recently purchased an engagement ring from Malidani Jewelry in the diamond district in NYC. I have to say I couldn't be happier. Everyone always advises to never purchase the first diamond you see, shop around to assure competitive pricing. I had done my research on the internet but never actually ventured out to see the real thing. Passing through the diamond district one day during my lunch break, I peered into the window of Malidani. One of the employees encouraged me to take a look inside. Of course you get this all the time in the Diamond District and normally I don't like to be harassed by pushy salesman who linger around on 47th St. Especially considering I was not yet in the market to actually purchase a diamond and furthermore had told other salesman "no, I'm just looking" numerous times that day. But for whatever reason, I agreed to go inside, call it fate. From that point on, everything happened so fast. One hour later, I was $8,950 closer to walking down the isle. The staff was great, professional and not pushy. The gentlemen who sold me the diamond was honest, insightful and gave me what I consider to be a great deal. He even let me take the diamond (escorted) down the street to get it appraised by any appraiser of my choice before I made my purchase. This gave me some comfort. Of course not having physically gone out to price similar diamonds and only relying on what I had read on the internet, I was a little nervous about my purchase nonetheless. So immediately that following week, I was all over the place pricing diamonds similar to mine to see if I had been ripped off. Surprising, I found that I made a good purchase and the diamond is beautiful! It's more than what my girlfriend wanted and she is going to die when I propose - princess cut, 2.4 carats, I-color, VS2, very good cut, tons of brilliance and fire. To size this diamond up against what I could have bought w/ $8,950, I took my ring to the diamond district in Philly and pretended that I wanted to sell it for an upgrade to 3-carats. Even compared to the numerous diamonds I viewed at various stores, I noticed that my diamond was just as nice, if not better. In fact, there was barely a noticeable size difference when compared to 3-carat diamonds w/ similar qualities. Plus every store was asking for almost $1,000-$1,500 more than what I paid at Malidani when I pretended to want to purchase diamonds similar to mine. Overall I'm very happy that I took a chance and luckily got a great deal. My independent appraiser said I paid a great price for a brilliant stone. Keep in mind that it was a GIA certified diamond and the $8,950 included the platinum 4-prong ring so in reality this diamond sold for about $8,500 flat!! Can't be that and I saved on sales tax by having it shipped to me since I live out of state. Malidani will have my business for years to come and I'm recommending all my friends to shop there as well.

Congratulations, on your engagement and for obtaining a very good value on a very beautiful ring. A very good omen for your future.

Congrats on a successful engagement dude. You should get the 'best bang for buck' award. Haggling for ages is good entertainment, once Salesmen have a sale almost in the bag they hate to loose it!

wow I love that setting.
Replace the side diamonds with saphires or rubies and yaaaaaahhhhooooooo :}
hehehehe
Congrates!!!

Congratulations on completely wasting the time of the people of jeweler's row in Philly. Glad you had entertainment at the expense of their business.
