To have a ring created like this? Right hand ring.

It’s on the cheap side (a Zales, mall ring originally)

Depends mostly on ring size as most of the cost will be on gold, which is record high right now.

DKJ is offering $1150 for the ring mounting without the center will cost in 14k gold with G color VS clarity round brilliant diamonds.

I just need to provide a 0.25ct center stone.

Is this a decent enough deal? Should I ask them to go lower on color?!

That seems very reasonable to me, especially given the quality of DK’s work. it will be a much better ring and diamond than if it was purchased through Zales, who I imagine is even charging a higher price.

Can I ask why you want one custom made as opposed to the original source?

Gold is at very high rate per gram now. If this is not something you immediately have to have, I would wait until the price of gold drops.

For myself, I feel like that's a fair amount of money for a relatively low carat weight ring. However, it's ultimately your checkbook!

You could probably find something somewhat similar that's already made for less. But that does sound like a good deal for a custom made ring.

The price of gold makes a lot lower price difference than you would think.
14k gold is 58.5% gold.(18k 75%)
So you take the setting wight in pennyweight(the standard for measuring rings) which is 1/20 of a troy once.
So you take the weight of the ring times .585 to get the gold weight.
Then you take the price of gold per troy once divided by 20.
Looking around stullers 4-5dwt would be a good range to use.
5dwt 14k ring is 2.925 dwt gold.
At $1000 gold that is $146.25
At $2000 gold that is $292.50
Less than $150 difference in a $1200 ring.

I would LOVE to just find the original one but cannot, I see them made on ebay as sterling silver :(

Is what you are asking for a quote on, the 1.30cttw as indicated in initial post?
And with a .25ct center?

I see a complete ring looking just like this in 14k (but it’s less than 1.30cttw ) for $700 on eBay shipping from Sugarland Texas. They have multiple available - but I’m sure you have no clue as to what you are exactly getting diamond wise.

If you are looking to reduce the amount of the quote, I’d ask to reduce the amount of melee, not the clarity or cut. And only lower color a bit if the center was really warm. but don’t know if that’s a cost savings.

Maybe look at danielm’s Instagram to see if you like his work? I don’t know what his price range would be for a replica of this though.

I don’t think the amount you were already quoted is high *for a custom mounting* - but it’s not chump change - and you are paying more for a replica of something that was mass produced and could have been had for less.
But what the heart wants is what the heart wants.
Done it myself.

Personally, I like the cost of the setting to seem in line with the cost of the center stone. No idea what that means to your or your situation, though.

Got this message today from the seller, he only has a few negative reviews so I’m hoping it’s legitimate and not a sterling silver ring bc if that’s the case I’ll just get a Berricle CZ

Thoughts on these stats?

It’s much cheaper because the center diamond isn’t lab graded, so the center diamond and melee diamonds are probably poor quality and my guess Is the setting is also of poor quality. Just because it’s 14k gold doesn’t mean it is well made. Probably has messy metalwork and subpar prongs securing the stones. The setting and diamonds are of much lower quality than you would get from DK. You get what you pay for. It sounds like this isn’t meant to be a sentimental piece, so maybe the eBay find is good enough you. Personally, I’d spring on the extra cash for a well made piece though. GLD

OK my RHR is here. It looks legit. Good reviews and they even gave me a Labor Day discount. Doesn’t look like a scam but I need another pair of eyes. Here’s some evening pictures. Turned the flash off so you could see the details. 6BE9054C-13F3-41FD-B76F-2C737C04AE9B.jpeg 2AE3D058-8A9A-47CA-9926-D9BA9B750E31.jpeg 34EFB1FB-1741-4031-8337-877634627306.jpeg
I will take a pic in the natural light outside tomorrow. Is a duplicate cert a fake? Just need confirmation in case I have to return this to the UPS store tomorrow. Have a great weekend all.

I love the hearts in the setting!
I'm curious what a duplicate certificate means?

Thanks! It is really cute and appears to be well made. I’m tempted to take it to a jeweler and find out if it is real 14k gold. I’m just SO afraid of being duped/scammed online but this is the first jewelry I buy off of eBay and they did have excellent reviews to be honest.

I think I am cautiously paranoid.

I'm scared of that too so I don't buy from ebay , I hope it's not a scam.

Take it to a pawn shop. They can test it for diamonds and gold karat. Most ebayers with good feedback can be trusted. I wouldn’t be too concerned.

He did reply back to me so I don’t feel too worried actually. I am mainly concerned about 14k WG & also the “duplicate cert”

Thoughts about the appraisal vs what you paid
Or thoughts about confirming you received what was advertised?

I think it got removed, I don't see it anymore? OMG you're right I'm an idiot :(

Sometimes we just forget...you can use a tool to scratch out (cover-up) all the address/name/location of jeweler information.
