I am looking for real life perspective of 3/4 cttw. to 1 1/2 cttw. diamond stud earrings. My husband and I have an anniversary coming up and I would like to get some ideas of how these would look. I have tried on a few sizes, but I haven't felt like I have a "good idea" of what these would look like. The diamond stud forum has been very helpful, but all of these shots are very close and make everyones diamonds look huge and gorgeous. I would appreciate the help. Thanks! :)

Is this what you meant? They are 2 ct tw the one in the back is a 16pt princess. It is a bad pic, forgive the wrinkles and the stones are really sparkly, but I hope it helps.

Here's a couple of ear shots at arms length. The stones are .41 each, F-SI1's

I think too many variables. Your head size, earlobe size will factor into real life perspective.

This is very true. One size that looks huge on one person may not look as big on the next.

Turpinm1, a great way to get an idea of what size atud you would like is to do this...

Grab some white sticky labels (i use the labels that you write on from the camera tape) and draw on some different sized circles. Cut them out, stick them on your ears and wear them in the house for the whole day. Check the mirror every now and then and you will start to get a feel of what size stone you will need for good ear coverage. I wore 4.5, 5 and then 5.5 sticky labels for a day each.

Next step is to go to your favourite accessory shop and buy some cheap as CZ/plastic fantastic fake diamond studs in the size you think you would like and wear them around for a week to see if they are too little/big.

That is the best way to find a stud that is the right size for you!

That's a good idea. I skipped the sticky label idea, and ended up with some cheap CZ earrings. Imagine my surprise when I found out I prefer to stay under 1ct tw in my ears. Oh well, I'll make up for that caratage elsewhere.

Thank you for your pictures!! Hawaiian-that's a great idea!! :)

Here is a pic of my 1cttw, .50ct each ear G color.

GEEZE! I look like I need to shave the side of my face  and my lobe looks HUGE! :?

Big ditto to the cheapy czs idea, and if you check the "show me your studs" sticky in SMTR there's a bunch there, too.

I agree that head and ear sizes, hole placement, etc. make such a difference in how the stone looks - at least with rings we can quantify that finger size variable!

In any case, here are mine, same pics from an old thread ::) , they're just under 1ctw but they're old cuts so they face up like 0.9ctw modern RBs - I reckon I've got average ears?
