Hi. I''m new to the forum and gem collecting in general. I collect vintage castume jewelry and LOVE colored stones. I mostly collect things with rhinestones but came across these supposed emeralds. Is there a way, by using a small portable UV light to test an emerald? I think I might need a filter of some sort. I haver a pr of "emerald" earrings that are BEAUTIFUL, sqare cut set in .925 silver. Thought they were not emeralds cause of this but have seen many emeralds mounted in silver in the past few days. I have the little tester but no filter. Any help out there?
