Hi All,
I've been learning a lot from this forum over the last several months. One of the things I have learned, unfortunately, is that asscher cut diamonds are some of the trickiest to find and evaluate. Like a lot of people, I'm hoping to find a great performing diamond with the lowest specs I can get away with (G/H/I?, VS1/VS2/SI?). I'd like to spend about $15-16K on the ring, so I was thinking $11-12K would go to the stone. I would love to get something close to 2 carats, but I realize I may have to settle for something closer to 1.5. With this in mind, I was hoping to get a little help with the following:
1. Is it even worth browsing inventory online or should I just contact a vendor with my specs and see what they come up with?
2. Are there any vendors in particular that excel in finding/evaluating asschers? I feel confident that GOG would be great, but I was curious if I could get a better bang for my buck with more of a discount vendor (and help from the experts here!)
3. Do new asscher cut diamonds enter inventory all the time? I understand that finding an asscher can sometimes be a long process. Is this because new diamonds are being cut all the time or is it just hard to find a good one in the existing inventory?
4. When I see a potential winner, I know I should ask for ASET and idealscope images, if available. Anything else?
Thanks for any help that you can provide. Also, if you want to suggest a potential stone, I'd love to see it!
