Hello! I am so thankful for finding this site. I have been lurking around a couple months gaining as much knowledge on diamonds as I can. It has been overwhelming :read: and frustrating :wall: at times. With that being said I am ready to purchase an engagement ring.

I have a budget of 5000 Canadian for the diamond.

color = nearly colorless GHI
clarity = SI2
carat = .85 to .95
cut = excellent
HCA = excellent

I have narrowed my selection to these three:

I am leaning towards the .85 carat diamond as it is a true hearts diamond fitting the optimal table\depth % and crown\pavilion angles.
I selected the last two diamonds as there are bigger in carats.

I want the diamond to be eye clean and have good brilliance. I realize the blue nile diamond an IS image would not be available.

Without the use of an IS, would you be able to see the difference between a diamond with excellent vs very good light return?
or excellent vs good light return?

Thanks in advance for your responses. :)

By all means, stick with the .85...it is a lovely cut stone and I can barely find the SI2 inclusion. Ask JA if the inclusion poses any
durability issues.

The other 2 stones have too much going on in them.

Thanks for the quick reply tyty333.

Can someone chime on if you can see a difference in brillance with the naked eye between a diamonds that has a excellent IS to another that has a very good IS.

I am also considering another diamond that is $1300 canadian more.

specs:
H SI2 .99 carat
Depth 61.8%
Table 56%
Crown 35.5°
Pavilion 40.6°

I have attached the IS. I believe it is a very good IS. If compare to the .85 carat brillance would I be able to see the difference?

What are the inclusions on this new stone...does it say anything about clouds or twinning wisps?

Yes there are twinning wisps, cloud and feathers listed in the GIA report.

I found the stone.. I am not liking it..That is too cloudy and murky

Flyingpig are you saying the latter diamond is hazy and not eye clean?
