People have been using Aqua Regia for literally centuries, as long as you have taken the requisite precautions, the danger is extremely limited.
The chemical that you need to precipitate the gold is simply ferrous sulphate, sometimes referred to as carbamide, can be bought at most drug stores in the vitamin suppliment aisle as "iron tablets"
Be sure that you have properly neutralized the nitric first whereas otherwise you will be fighting a loosing battle since the nitric mix,(Aqua Regia) wil inhibit the precipitation.
