1) what shape of fancy stone is the most brilliant and sparkly?
2) what shape of fancy stone shows the biggest size for it''s weight?
3) are fancy stones less expensive than round diamonds per weight in general?
4) i can not find any excellent sym/polish/cutting large size fancy stones on pricescope, it''s usually very good or lower, is it uncommon for fancy stones to have very excellent grades?
5) there are less "tools" and guidelines in selecting fancy stones.

thank you

I will answer one question for you, sorry I can''t answer the others. Marquise, Ovals, and Pears tend to look larger. I am sure others will chime in; also here is a tutorial on fancy shaped stones if you have not seen it already. https://www.pricescope.com/fancy.asp

Thanks Skippy
I just read the tutorial. I guess for fancy shapes... I should look for the AGS and AGA, not so much the GIA?

Skippy is right on which shapes will appear larger. I don''t think you''ll find any ideal cuts in the fancy shaped stones. I think it''s just something you have to see to know if the stone appeals to you. I orignally bought a heart shaped diamond and ended up going to a RB to get the best cut diamond possible.

maybe i should stick with RB? because the market may come up with better cutting and more stringent grading in the future for fancy diamonds?

I think you can find some really nice cut fancy shaped diamonds but the RB cut will always out perform them. What shape are you interested in?

i don''t like square or emerald.
radiant, oval, pear or marquise can be considered

1) what shape of fancy stone is the most brilliant and sparkly? Depends on the calibre of the cut, I have heard it said that ovals are a very brilliant shape, but take each on an individual basis.

2) what shape of fancy stone shows the biggest size for it's weight? To the best of my knowledge, pears, marquise and oval.

3) are fancy stones less expensive than round diamonds per weight in general? It depends, I have heard it can be the case, but have no up to date info, a vendor would be your best bet or check pricing above.

4) i can not find any excellent sym/polish/cutting large size fancy stones on pricescope, it's usually very good or lower, is it uncommon for fancy stones to have very excellent grades? Labels don't mean much again, you need expert vendor input to recommend and judge each diamond.

5) there are less 'tools' and guidelines in selecting fancy stones. Yes.

HI:

Please correct me if I am wrong, but is not a Princess also considered at fancy shape? These stones, now, do have "Ideal" parameters and if so are certed by AGS. Cut by Infinity and Whiteflash are purveyors of such quality stones, which are wonderful speicmens for cut/sparkle. But you mentioned that you were not interested in "square" stones,, and PC mostly fall into this shape......

cheers--Sharon
