Hi I've decided on my diamond which is a 1.58C F SI Excellent cut. I'm set on having a cushion cut halo and the one that my jeweller has in store is the Jeff Cooper one. (see the michaelfina link below) I've been on the website and I think I like the look of halo's where there are no airlines like the one Mayk has posted here (I also love the stacked look of it) https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-me-your-stacked-wedding-set.180722/

I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping the PS'ers can help me with.

1) Will the airline really help with brilliance?
2) By not having an airline is it really harder to clean the diamond and keep the brilliance and fire of the diamond?
3) Are there any other drawbacks of not having an airline?
4) By not having an airline does the diamond typically look bigger versus a halo with an airline?

Sorry for all my questions

Thanks!

By airline you mean a gap between the center stone and the halo?

If the stone if well cut then it really doesn't need an "airline" IMO.

To me I'd go with a gapless design. A properly done halo does accentuate the center stone and can make it look bigger. Especially from an arm length's distance or more. To me it has better integration and pulls everything together whereas with the gap("airline) your eye tends to wander around the ring. That's me personal opinion though so go with what you like.

I agree with you I like the look without a gap ("airline") better as well but was concerned about the cleaning and brilliance issues that my jeweller brought up so that's why I turned to this forum to get other people's experience.

So does the airline serve a purpose or is it just for looks?

It's just for looks. The stone can be cleaned from the top and from the gallery area. Can you post the stone you have selected
with all the specs so we can see that it is well cut.

Or you can use the HCA tool to check it your self.

I can tell you that most people who get halos do not go for the airline.
