RB Diamond, EGL I Graded, Suggestion?

I found a 0.61 RB Diamond, F color, SI1 clarity, ideal cut.

Here are the specs:

Depth: 62.1%
Table: 58%
Crown Height: 15%
Pavillion Depth: 42%
5.37-5.35 x 3.33mm
Girdle: Thick-Faceted
Polish: VG
Symmetry: VG

I put the specs into the Cut Advisor, and they turned up to be a 1.3 - Excellent within FIC range. If this stone is eye clean, do you believe it would be a good buy? The price is about spot on to what I want to spend, and it''d be the centerstone in an engagement ring. Thanks for your suggestions!

The stone is just under $1,000. And I''ll request the idealscope of it.

It has a thick in the girdle variation, that will hide weight. A well cut 0.55-0.56c will have about the same diameter as this stone.

Also, EGL is known to be soft on color and clarity grading, depending on which lab the report originated from can be up to 3 grades difference. These stones are discounted by trade and are priced according to what the vendor think the stone will be graded if send to GIA/AGS to be reliably graded.

The diamond has potential but an Idealscope image would be useful if you can get one. EGL labs can vary in their accuracy as you are probably aware, also some EGL labs are less strict than others, sometimes there have been cases where the diamond has appraised considerably lower than graded, sometimes 3 or more grades difference....I would make any sale final on the diamond checking out to your satisfaction in all aspects with an independant appraisal and get this in writing.

My professional experience with EGL has most often been a combo of 2-3 grades off of GIA/AGS. Can be 2-3 color grades, two color grades & one clarity, two clarity and one color, etc.

Use caution before purchasing an EGL graded stone. If it looks like too good of a deal, it probably is!
