I've been told that this gem my daughter found was an amythest and I was just wondering what kind and what i should do with it. Is it worth selling? IMG_20190501_000521_030.jpg

It’s a really nice crystal, and it’s probably an amethyst. It isn’t worth much. I think she should keep it as a nice scientific specimen. Or as a decorative object.

What a cool find! Amethyst is a very inexpensive stone, so probably not worth the hassle of selling. If you wanted to turn it into a keepsake, someone like Dan Stair could probably cut it for you.

Thank you, iĺl probably keep it as is until she can make the decision to cut it herself but I appreciate it.

Doesn't look to be facet grade but a wonderful mineral specimen!

I wouldn’t cut it. It has more interest being a full terminated crystal, which is more impressive than a cut and included amethyst.
