Hey y''all, thanks to all your helpful insights I''ve narrowed my search down to this one diamond for my engagement ring. It''s passed my smell test and I wanted to know if it does for you guys:
Shape: Round
Carat weight: 1.49
Cut: Ideal
Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 60.1%
Table: 58.0%
Pav Angle: 40.8
Crown Angle: 33
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick
Culet: Very Small
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.38*7.42*4.45
I really like this diamond for the following reasons:
HCA rating = 0.8 (excellent on all counts)
1.49 carat count = saddling the "magic" weights for a great value
Idealscope looks great (i''ll upload it soon, I couldnt upload in the first post for some reason)
$/ct is less than $8,000 (is this a good price?)
I had some questions:
a) What is the average turnover for diamonds at an e-tailer? Wiring this money right now would put me in a tight budget, I had hoped to wait another few months to increase my buffer.
b) For HCA ratings, is 0-2 in general a uniform range? (i.e., a 0.5 is not that much better than a 1.5) I know the HCA rating isnt supposed to be a deciding factor, but I was glad to see it got a 0.8 HCA rating
c) A G/VS2 is fine for an engagement ring of this size right? I went to a B&M jeweler and we were only shown E-F, VS1s, and she was smitten. From all my research this G/VS2 shouldn''t be noticeably different (although it turns out she has quite the eye for distinguishing the color on stones...)
Thank you guys so much for your help!
