Couple of stones came to my attention. The most promising being
1.07ct
G / SI1
Depth: 61.1%
Width: 55%
Crown Ht: 15%
Pavilion: 43%
No culet/Fluorescence
$4K (about $900 OVER what I wanted to spend, but...)

Everything else I''ve looked at hasn''t come close, the cut advisor ''rates'' it very high. I saw some H stones at a jeweler yesterday and they were noticeably yellow... which would be a disaster next to an emerald (imho) (or tsavorite)

TIA!

It looks like the EGL cert ust balanced the premium on those last 0.07 of a carat that made this stone pass the 1ct mark...

Neither have much to do with what the stone looks like though.

There is a 0.9ct, G-VS1 that you may find to be an interesting alternative...and if I am right about the other piece comming with an EGL cert, this other piece could well be a bit whiter. How effective is the difference between a "Very Good" HCA cut grade and a H&A ideal may not be easy to tell though.

And here's another Candidate along the same line.

I do not know how big the stone you have posted is (diameter size). It may be interesting to compare that measure with these two stones ( 6.15mm both)

I'm open for varying stone sizes. My biggest problem is I've seen a number of 'yellows' ... my eye keeps picking up the colour. Can I tell the difference next to each other? Nope. But without having a bit of green tsavorite to stick next to it I'm growing more concerned about colour.

That diamond appears to have an inclusion just off axis. Her sister, recently engaged, still grumbles about the "SI1" stone that she has that you can see the inclusion straight down in bright sunlight. I may be slow on those male-female interactions, but seeing as both her and her sister agree that thats distracting, I managed to pick up on that fact and have eliminated any stone that has a remote chance of having an inclusion down the table.

That said, I'll grind thru a bunch more stones. 900$ is money I'd much rather use towards bribing Mark Morell to make me a Lilly Ring

I see... You could get a green something for comparison though (it could be any green thing, but wouldn't most jewelers have some green stone around? and then there are the colored CZs at Wink's)

Now, I suppose the inclusion was in the D-SI2 not in THIS right?

When I ran that stone thru the cut advisor it warned me there was a fisheye in the making.

I've actually been talking to Wink- I hear he's got some Tsavorite that might make me drool. I wonder if I should order it and let it be 'seen' on my desk... and then get her opinion on it

Oh MAN would that be sneaky.
