Rapaport JCK 2018 Live

I agree in general Wink. But I will say that many customers do inquire about ethical sourcing, and we have that discussion with them. It definitely IS an issue for this generation, and that should never be taken lightly. ESPECIALLY given the events of the past few months and the activism that has been generated around keeping businesses accountable for their practices, their policies, and even their advertisers! Young people are realizing their strengths and I think that will only grow in potency as they learn to use this kind of leverage to sculpt the world they live in.

Thank you Bryan,

Perhaps I was not clear exactly what I meant when I said we do not talk about it. We do talk with those who ask, and, as you do, we make DARN sure with our supplier, Crafted by Infinity, that we will be telling the truth when asked. That is what I meant when I said we don't talk about it. We are already doing it, and worrying about it, so that when asked we do not have to go check before we can have a frank discussion. I know and respect that WF and BGD and others are taking the same attitude about knowing for sure, for DARN SURE, that none of our inventories are contaminated.

It seems like the real discussions involving Debeers and rough sourcing data have moved beyond 'conflict' diamonds. I'm not sure the consumer market realizes that quite yet. But they should if diamondfacts.org is accurate in their estimate that 99.8% of diamonds are now brought to market through KP. What I am picking up in these bits and pieces in regards to block chain management, is really more about the competitive advantage Debeers has and might like to monetize. Or at least keep to themselves - for potentially legitimate business reasons.

I think these questions are fair game, but Debeers (or any company for that matter) may have just as legitimate reasons to keep some of this info to themselves. In some ways it is very much like intellectual property.

I would be concerned however, and I expressed this in another thread regarding the Debeers/DDI initiative to implement a 'tag and bag' chain of custody process in some artisinal areas, if Debeers does not share that particular data openly. In the name of establishing provenance and enhancing healthy development in the artisinal communities, that data could prove invaluable in terms of understanding where the deposits are concentrated and potentially give Debeers a very lopsided business advantage.

For someone who is well known, I would have expected a more concise communication style.
Listening to the talk it was distracting and irritating to have him go off topic and shout so often.
When you see the rough pricing vs the one carat polished price, what was the rough carat weight?
(Side Note: There are few things more annoying than a graph that is not labeled clearly.)
