Ok. We got a new digital camera and I took a few pics of some of my native cut, not so pretty spinels and one pic of my ruby cabochon and a chalcedony cabochon. I did the best I could with a Nikon Coolpix L120. I didn't realize photographing stones was so hard! spin2.jpg

I like your stones, especially the ruby cabochon !
Pretty collection !
Gemstones are difficult to take photos of, just have to keep at it.
Take a bunch and delete many, that's my motto :?

Thank you. I have more stones, but some I have no idea what they are. I hope to eventually be able to aquire a nicer lot of better cut stones. I also plan on having a ring made. Out of all the stones I put on here, I think the ruby is the cutest lol. I just wish I could get better closeups but when I zoom in it goes all blurry so this was the best I could get.

I like your collection too, the ruby is cute and you have some nice coloured spinels. Taking pictures of gemstones can be very awkward at times. I dont know about you, but I find that some gems will turn out amazingly well but others just end up as blurs because the camera doesent like the cut! :p

Photography of gemstones is so difficult compared to stills. My first few pictures were so horrible and only 1 in 100 turned out semi-decent enough to post. :errrr: Over time, though, it improved so hang in tough and keep practicing!
