Hi,

I've posted before about my diamond (specs are below) and I have another question about fire/coloured light reflection if anyone can help please.

In natural daylight, from below I can see a colourful rainbow effect from the lower facets of the diamond (pic attached) but from above it is bright white unless in artificial lighting. I'd like to know if this is normal in a RB or due to my stones proportions?

For an upgrade I am hoping to find a diamond that reflects rainbow colors in natural lighting. Is this only possible with OEC's? Or do some Hearts and Arrows have this effect? Does anyone have a firey RB?

TD 59.4%
TS 58%
CA 32.5%
CH 13.5%
PA 40.4%
PD 42.5%
SL 50%
LH 75%
Girdle med to stk
Faceted 3.5%
Culet none
Polish excellent
Symmetry very good
Fluorescence none

Thanks!

For fire you need to look for a higher crown angle...and we usually get fire outdoors with sunlight. Not so much with in doors lighting (at least from
my experience). In doors I usually get "sparkle". Some of the sparkle has color but its not shooting off like fire. My stone is a super ideal branded stone.

Look for crown angles in the 34-35 degree range
Pavilion in the 40.6 to 41 range. 34 pairs better with 41 and vice versa (35 with 40.6)

When you are ready we can help you pick out a stone.

Just saw your other thread...I agree with DS that that setting will not hold a bigger stone like you want...unless your jeweler can cut the whole head
out and stretch the shank up near the head (probably easier to start over). Combining round brilliant pave with an old cut (OEC) has never been a problem.
They do look different but its mostly because pave is small and your center stone will be big. Some people do use single cuts for pave when they have an
OEC but lots of people stick with just regular round brilliant pave.

I think an OEC would be good for you because they have bigger facets so the colored light will be easier to see. They also have higher crowns which
will help with fire. Ignore the numbers I listed above if you are going for an OEC (those are for RBs).
