Hello....I just got the detailed specs on my new radiant cut diamond engagement ring.

1.05ct
6.50 x 5.86 x 3.38
G color
SI1
Depth 57.7%
Table 68.1%
Pavilion 33 degrees 48%
Crown 27.40 degrees 7%
Girdle Medium
Cutlet None
Flourescence None

I used the AGA cut estimator and gave me an overall rating of 3A, although all the specs were between 1A and 3B. While I know the diamond is on the shallow end in terms of depth, it is really the 3B shallow crown angle spec that has me a little concerned.

What is the effect of a shallow crown angle and does the pavilion angle in anyway effect this? The diamond gives a lot of sparkle/scinitllation in low lighting (restaurants, etc.) but it''s a light sparkling and it lacks (and I may be off on my terms here so bear with me) brilliance (contrast if I am correct?) and dispersion (what I''ve seen in other radiants - the separation of the light reflection from 1-2 feet away or so). Could this be the result of the depth or the angle or so many other factors it''s hard to say?

Radiants are hard to figure out even having all the numbers. First of all, yours has a lower depth, so that means it will appear larger than it would normally for its carat weight. That is generally a good thing. Your crown height does seem a bit low, and that affects how fiery it will look. You probably will not see as many colored sparkles as you would if the crown height were a bit higher. But overall, are you happy with your diamond? If you are, don''t worry so much about the numbers.
