I am set with the setting (see attached), now i need to find good compable diamond. My original interest was in radiant, my boyfriend likes cushion. After chatting with bluenile rep about the setting, looks like radiant and cushion required the horizontal bar connecting the prongs together, which i really don''t like. Should i go for round? or should i go for radiant and get stuck with the horizontal bar sprongs? Also, what do you guys think about the cushion brilliant cut? My boyfriend loves that cut, but i''m not a big fan.

Please respond becuase we''re shopping for our "ideal" ring this weekend and next. Thank you.

Lovely ring! I would not like the bar either so I''d go with a round.

Ditto - my ering profile looks similar to the setting without the bar and I love the fact that you can see the side of my diamond and it looks great when the light shines through it. I'm not a fan of cushions so I'd go for the RB

If you are going to get it from BN then it would be safer to purchase a RB based on the stones numbers. Not the best way to go about choosing IMO but some people do it. You ideally want to have images (IS & ASET) before purchasing any diamond but you especially need them with fancy shapes (anything non-round). BN does not supply images so this puts your ability to properly evaluate the stone at a significant disadvantage.

I think you have to decide which is more important to you: the setting without the bar, or the radiant cut. I love radiants and would choose that over a round any day, then find a setting that works well with it (or have one custom made). You said you''re set with the setting, but Whiteflash has a similar setting and the description said it can be done with any head. You can ask about a radiant with the head you like. I would also second the recommendation to go with another vendor instead of Blue Nile if you''re going to get a radiant. As for the cushion, I think you should get what you love, not what your boyfriend loves but that you don''t care for.

Ditto OaT.

I wouldn't let the vendor's limited selection make me have to decide between 2 things that I am not 100% in love with. There are too many vendors and too many settings to compromise on an expensive and sentimental item like an ering.

And I would NOT buy a fancy shape from a vendor that could not supply images. There is way too much variation in the cuts of fancy shapes.
