Dear PS members, it''s now my turn to ask for your views after months spent on this forum learning on diamonds. I am searching for the perfect stone for my GF and I finally decided that a radiant would combine modern aspect and bright look. It will go on a solitaire X prong style ring.

I found this one and already like it a lot. Before taking my decision I wanted to share it with you and get your thoughts.

Let me know what you think good or bad!!

It''s a 1.20ct E VS1 square Radiant. All other details in the following pictures (IS, ASET, SARIN, and pictures)

It seems the aset picture did not work for some reason. Here it is again!

So what do you think????

Just did a DIY AGA test and found that this diamond is rated 1b (2 x 1a and 2 x 1b) which I understand is a good result for a fancy shape.

Also after some review it now seems to me that the diamond is axed, i.e. there are 2 bright spots and 2 black spots forming an X. It is very visible when you look at the IS or the ASET and I think I can also see it when I look at the pictures. Should we take this into account for the setting? Basically do you think the black spots should be aligned with the ring or should it be the bright spots?

Here is some info on ASET, in case you haven't seen it.

I am no expert on Radiants, but it looks like a pretty diamond to me, what do the folks at WF say about this diamond? I don't know if perhaps the dark areas are like a bow tie which some fancy shapes can have....But I would check with WF about that. Basically it looks like a nice radiant to me, I know what I don't like in this shape and this one appeals to me!

Ditto!

I think it looks very nice for a radiant. Has Brian (the cutter) given any input on this stone?

Thanks Lorelei and Dreamer_Dachsie!

I had not seen this thread but it''s very useful indeed. Should even be on IS website actually I think. I am pleased to see that my ASET has lots of reds, even more than what is reported as a top princess.

WF were doubtfull before they saw the stone as the depth % was so small but hopefully the crown height came up very good so we decided to bring it in for review. WF are now very positive and clearly recommend this diamond. No comment on the bow tie though.

Garry H, if you read this thread, it would be great to have your view on this.

I don''t think Brian has seen the stone. Difficult in this case where there is no comparison anyway.

It looks very nice and I''m trying to learn just like you. I had been looking at princess cut and thought i read that there might be questions raised if the table size is greater than depth. Don''t know if this is true and applies to radiants which are similar in cut to princess. Might explain the x? Like to hear what Garry or another expert has to say.
