Wanting to know what your thoughts are on my stone I got for my girlfriend. I’ve done a decent amount of research but nothing compares to having stones in your hand to actually visualize details from a good stone to a bad stone. From a top down view of the stone you cannot read or see through what so ever, but when angling that’s when it occurs.

Questions:
1- Is windowing a very common occurance for 1.3:1 + ration radiant cuts

2- thoughts on my stone?

3- based on the images should I be too concerned?

4- is there a way to predict the severity of windowing that will occur?

I really like the stone and from all the angles 360* videos I’ve found online it seems like every stone has it, but the strait 360* front back view videos I can never tell.

I am not a cut nut or an expert, however, I did not think windowing is possible for Radiant cut famed for its crushed ice appearance.

I believe what you are referring to is the tilt window, which can also appear on the best precision cut coloured gemstones.

Hopefully, the experts will come along and comment soon.

DK :))

So would you say it’s not per say a bad thing or concern to see? Thanks for your input, I hope so too!

In coloured stones, a tilt window is as expected especially when the stone is deep.

However, as I have said, I am not a cut nut or an expert on cuts.

Anyone?

You need an ASET image or your own scope - the photos are not enough

Put a bright red or blue non-lighted item behind the stone and redo the pics.
bits of a Mylar balloon work very well.
Can also use the label off a 2l pepsi bottle.

That looks like a lot of leakage at that angle and if Garry says that's normal for that faceting design, I am going to accept his opinion on it.

I brought it into a store since and the jeweler said the windowing at that angle is normal as well, the face up view has very little light leakage according to the jeweler.

Is your girlfriend going to examine it as you have? My guess she'll see her lovely diamond ring face up on her hand and be very pleased.
I tend to not like radiants but I like yours.
