Hi Help! Welcome to Price Scope!!!

Let's see if I can be specific in what is needed:

LOTS of other info is required to tell you how well cut this stone is, and if it's even worth the $6000. Even the setting can be as cheap as $100 in white gold to $1600 in platinum, so again whatever details you have would be helpful.

1) Does it come with a certificate?
2) Is the certificate from EGL, AGS, HRD or GIA?
3) What is the Table of the stone?
4) What is the depth of the stone
5) What is the polish and symmetry grades?
6) If given (or with a Sarin report) what are the following:
-crown height
-culet %
-crown angle
-pavillion angle
-do the cert #s agree with Sarin
7) What is the facet pattern like? Is it like a princess with cut corners or like shattered glass?
8) If it's SI-1 where are the inclusions plotted? Sides or center, and what type? Feathers, pinpoints, black or white inclusions?
9) How are the quality details of the setting?

Just off hand, I notice the girdle is extremely thick and the carat weight is just at 1.02, meaning this stone was cut to keep the weight on it to command the 1ct price. It's alsready to me a pricey stone (possibly for what you are getting), so I am not impressed by the sloppiness of the girdle. I have no other info, as I would need more to even guess at it's light performance...

Sorry to not be able to guess just like that, but I would never spend even $1000 without knowing that what I am getting is the best for my money, and I can't tell anything with what you gave me, beyond what I have mentioned about the girdle.

I have a Radiant, and have found the perfect one for me at The Radiant Cut, which is the company that invented the Radiant and patented it. They command a bit of a premium, but i have noticed that they do have tighter standards they stick to, so maybe looking through the website will help. The Radiant Cut Optimal Measurements

And you can use these charts to help you in your quest: AGA Charts

Even then, the best test is your eyes. Some use the Ideal Scope or Brilliant Scope to measure where there may be light leakage and how much of the stone is reflectiong back light, so that could help. However, the eyes do have it, and if you have seen it, and it calls to you, it may be yours! GOod luck and let us know what other details you can get!

thanks for getting back to me so soon! I have limited info. The Jewelery appraisal is a member of American Gem Society and it says on the write up that it's GG-GIA. However it doesn't have the actual picture of where the inclusions might be. I too was a little worried w/ the girdle being thick to extremely thick.

Do the measurements help at all? 6.14 mm X 5.50mm X 3.85 mm?

The only thing I can tell you further is if it is indeed AGS, then that would be certified like THIS

Since it says it's a member, that makes me wonder if it was graded in a lab...? Does the certificate look like the one on the AGS page? Also, it SHOULD include a plot diagram, as that helps you and the stone owner at each stage to identify the stone better... Hmmmm...

I am not too familiar with AGS certs besides the ones I have seen that are like the ones on their site, so maybe if someone knows of memeber appraisers with different techniques?

Also, the only thing I can further say is that I am making guess right now that your stone has a table of at least the low to mid 60s. Perhaps closer to 65% or so? I say this only because the MINIMAL spread is square millimeters of the Radiants in RCDC's page state that for a 1ct, it would be 31.o, and your stone measures (6.14 x 5.50 = 37.69).

Making a sweepeing generalization, many radiants are cut with large tables and shallow depths (to support the surface area of the table), so they LOOK larger than they should be when properly cut at their carat weights.

Only issue with this is that it loses Fire (color sparkles) and gains brilliance (white sparkles) but deadens the stone in certain lights and requires lower lighting to "have life" and sparkle. Plus larger tables get dirtier much faster (more surface area to get dirty) and the stone tends to need cleaning much faster and look a bit dull, on top of the shallow pavillion and large table. NOT the best for a stone you wear everyday...

Lots more to say, but more info needed. Can you read off the certifcate what it says?
