Hi, I have been searching diamonds locally for months, but I live in an isolated area where there is little choice for jewellers. We rely largely on chain stores to buy jewellry and so far all that I have been able to see is highly priced and not the quality that I hope to get. I finally have a setting picked out, and I want a radiant cut for the center diamond, 1 carat, and it needs to be square. We are hoping to find a diamond in the ballpark of $5000 - $6000 that is eye clean, white and has great sparkle of course! We have been looking at online vendors, I have done alot of research but I am nervous about purchasing a diamond unseen. I am skeptical of return policies, things getting "lost" in the mail etc. that I can't seem to bring myself to take the plunge online for such alot of money. May sound crazy to many of you but I keep remembering the old saying, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. And some of the diamond prices I am seeing on such sites as eternity diamonds, mdc diamonds, brillance.com sound too good to be true for the GIA paperwork that comes with them, when I compare to the prices I am getting from local jewelry stores. I don't want to be buying diamonds, then returning them because we are not satisfied. That being said, we are planning a trip to NYC in early Dec. and while we are there we are hoping to bring home a diamond. Does anyone have any advice on where we shoukd look? What stores? Eternity Diamonds and MDC are some I have come across online where you can make a viewing appointment. Any thoughts on these or any others come to mind? We are really hoping to find the perfect diamond soon! thanks so much for any help that anyone can give me!!

In NYC, go to ID Jewelry but you need to call them in advance and tell them what you want to look at so they can get a couple of diamonds in for you to look at. Diamonds by Lauren and Engagement Rings Direct also can do this. And if you could get out to Long Island, I highly recommend Good Old Gold. Call in advance to any of these.

I second the DBL recommendation by DS. David has amazing radiant cuts. Good luck!

I personally prefer buying online from a store which is accredited by Better Business Bureau and always check their customers feedback/testimonials.

Online shopping is completely hassle free shopping and also saves time & traveling expenses. I can sit with my wife all alone and check out the diamonds and jewelry designs peacefully at home. If I have any questions I just shoot an email and get a quick reply, if needed I can jump on to their live chat options. I am a very hard nut to crack but still at times I take hasty decisions when get bugged of those sales talks, trying to convince me. At home, no one can divert my attention and I can take decisions more precisely and wisely.
Plus the prices are also very competitive. They provide with real images and gemological feedback of the Diamonds and Jewelry
They provide with free shipping within both ways. In case if you do not like the diamond you can always avail the free Return Policy and they will send you Free Return Shipping Label. Plus 100% refund.
Life Time Upgrade policy - If you wish to upgrade your diamond at any time after your purchase, you go for a diamond whose cost should be higher than the original one. They do not limit the number of times you can upgrade your diamond.
Warranty on Jewelry,Free Ring re sizing, Warranty.

HI All,
Sakari- you make a very good point abut doing research to check out any potential seller....but I did want to comment on Better Business Bureau.
Basically, it's an advertising organisation. If a company buys into it they are then listed ( accredited) by BBB.
It may be possible to lodge complaints against companies who are not listed ( I'm not sure about that one) - and maybe BBB even checks out companies they solicits to join.....but it really seems a bit skewed to me- calling a company BBB, yet part of it is more about getting companies to pay for representation.

I agree, David! References on PS would mean a LOT more to me!!!

But I do buy online all the time since I don't live near any of the vendors!
