Radiant Cut E-Ring Help

I could use some help finding an E-ring. I'm looking for a Radiant Cut and based on my research i need to see them in person or atleast see an ASET image of it or both?

What is my best bet for finding a great Radiant cut diamond? My budget is around 3200 for the stone AND setting. I'd like it to be around the .7 carat mark if possible, but I'm flexible. I want it to be "eye-clean" so going as low as SI-1 clarity and H or I color is fine. Also a slightly rectangular Radiant would be great if I can find one that still has excellent fire/brilliance/scintillation etc... If I need to see the stone in person since it's a fancy cut, how might I go about finding a reputable dealer in my area? (Central Florida)

Thoughts? Suggestions on stones? Is it worth it to spend $160 (almost 5% of my budget) to get an Idealscope and ASET for looking at stones myself?

Thank you for your help!

when we say see it in person it doest always have to mean hold it in your hand and look at it, it can mean getting pictures and a video.

You would want to do that as well as performance info like an ASET. However, there are vendors that will do that for free, so no, i wouldnt pay for it! do you want a more crushed ice look or a crisper faceted look?

www.diamondsbylauren.com carry a LOT of radiants in different cuts and colours - may want to look at his site and see what appeals to you there. His pics are VERY detailed and some have videos of the different stones. Very interesting editorial comments there as well.

OP - here are two James Allen (JA) radiants I already had bookmarked - as it happens, both are higher color and clarity that your specs, and one is larger and one is smaller in terms of carat weight - but again, I found these two had the radiant cut design I preferred and from the videos I find them both very appealing - if you are interested, you should contact JA and ask them to hold them for you while they obtain Aset images of both:

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/0.63-carat-g-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-177731

Remember JA gives discounts to PS members of 1%-5% depending on the diamond so the 0.80ct E-VVS1 radiant could squeak in just at or a bit over budget if you selected a basic solitaire setting (http://www.jamesallen.com/engagemen...e=100&MaxPrice=9900&PageSize=15&OrderBy=Price)

Please note that JA will only provide up to three Asets per customer/purchase, so you want to make sure you are requesting Asets for radiants that do meet your requirements.

Thank you to everyone for the help!

Niel; Possibly the crushed Ice...but can you get excellent Fire/Brilliance/Scintillation w/the crushed Ice look?

Sakari_8 - We found a setting that she loved at a local B&M branch of one of the big national chains. Honestly, the setting is more important to her than the center stone. She really likes the small pave stones and really REALLY likes the milgrain work, especially on the vertical sides of the ring. If I can find something very similar elsewhere I'm game. Suggestions are welcome!

Maryamm - I didn't know that about James Allen, Either the ASET, the 3 stone limit, or the slight discount! all very good to know!

Thank you all for suggesting some stones...this at least gives me some legs to run on in looking to find a great stone...and setting.

As someone who absolutely loves the "crushed ice" cut, it's really a personal preference and it really depends on who you ask. I personally love the way a "crushed ice" stone performs! Others here will say to get an "antique" or branded cut stone...so if you like the crushed ice, I'd really stick with that. Don't let yourself get swayed by others' preferences. This is YOUR stone/ring.

I notice both of those stones have high clarity. Was that intentional? If so, do you need that high of clarity? Because you can find eye clean (can't see the inclusions) VS2 or SI1 stones, and you won't have to pay for clarity you literally arent seeing.

Visually, I prefer the two I picked over the two you picked, which are also larger. The .71 E has a 71% table larger than preferred, though not unacceptable. .74 G looks leaky.

Niel it was not intentional, I chatted w/someone from JA to try and find a few stones. The .74 g vvs2 was one they recommended.

Honestly, I'm trying to learn what to look for when looking at the zoomed in rotating pictures on JA.

For instance JulieN ' s suggestion of the .73 g vs1. (which is right at my budget price and looks very nice btw) I notice there are some (fairly evenly spaced) dark areas when it is face up. Is this a good indicator or bad? I know round brilliants that are "hearts and arrows" will have that and it's good. Also, how are you seeing that the .74g looks "leaky"?

Basically, what are some of the indicators, good and bad that I should be looking for in seeing the zoomed in rotating footage of these radiant cuts on JA? I think that if I can get a handle on that, I can narrow it down to 3 stones that I'll ask for ASET images of.

Thank you all again for your help. I am learning!!! and that is a good thing.

I prefer JulieN's E Vs over your suggested G VVS. The one you selected has a strong dark band going across the middle.

Giving this a bump to see if I can get some help in figuring out what I should be looking for in these pictures. Thanks to Chrono for pointing out the dark band. Very helpful!

After spending some more time digging I found a four options that I like and I'm thinking of requesting ASET images for 3 of them. All are within my pricerange and about the size I'm looking for.

I'd love to hear thoughts/opinions from the community on these stones. Which do you like the best? Why? If you see a problem with one in particular, what is it?
