I am interested in getting a radiant cut diamond. I have received the ASET report and want to know your opinion? Is this diamond worth buying. Do you think I can keep searching and find something better? I know she wants a radiant cut that is really going to sparkle and look beautiful. Do you think this diamond has a good cut? It looks like it has a crushed ice effect but I want to make sure that there is no leakage and that the diamond will shine.

Here is the the link:

Just about the worst Radiant I've ever seen no matter which type you prefer. Lifeless under the huge table and then contrast zones on the bezels. I see this from both the aset AND the video on Jamesallen.

Radiants are not known to be the brightest cuts but even if you must have a cut corner rectangle you can do better.

What should I look for when looking for a radiant shape diamond. I feel like everyone I talk to gives me a different answer and it is just so hard to find the best diamond that will look beautiful. I have heard that cut is the most important thing. They tell me that the table and depth should be between 58-69 with the table being smaller. Also they say to aim for excellent- very good for polish and symmetry. That is pretty much what I am basing my searches off of. I could be completely wrong. From what I looked up about the ASET report the more red the better. I am honestly just looking for a Radiant cut for about 10000 that is going to beautifully sparkle and put a smile on my gf face. Thanks so much for your help.

Numbers won't help you at all table and depth numbers are not that useful good ones can have very different proportions.
Excellent polish and symmetry definitely not important. Good or Very Good in either or both is perfectly fine.

Only way to select these is by video, ASET or in person away from tricky "make frozen spit look good" jewlery store lights.

If I had 10k to spend here are some choices I know you wrote radiant but these modern cushions are pretty close and will be brighter.

I think you need to find out what "flavor" of radiant the recipient would prefer. You're right that this stone is a more crushed ice look, and I want to warn you that this may become a debate, as many radiant threads do, about crushed ice radiants, but I will say that all that really matters is that the person who wears it loves it. I personally have a more organized patterned square radiant that I love. Either can be beautiful. You could also find out preferred length to width ratio (longer vs. wider) or more square.

For reference, when I say "more organized," I mean a pattern like this stone, with a visible X shape and symmetrical facets: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/0.90-carat-k-color-vs1-clarity-sku-1882348

Just find out what the preference is, and then we can help.

Did she ask for a radiant? Just wondering...

not specifically radiant. She wants something that is rectangular

I would suggest taking the person that the stone is intended for out shopping at this point to try different types of cuts and shapes. The reason is that "rectangular" could be interpreted several ways - e.g. cushions are rounded rectangles, emerald cuts and some radiants can be cut more rectangular but some radiants are more square shaped (a square is a rectangle, after all). On top of that, there are different flavors of all these cuts. If you're not sure exactly what she means by rectangular I would suggest having her look at or try on radiant, emerald, asscher, princess, and cushion cuts to start with.

Unless recipient has specified a radiant, I probably wouldn't pick it for them. And I like radiants! So do some more investigating. There's a big difference between the rectangular shape stones--emerald, cushion, princess, etc.

What are your thoughts on rectangular princess vs rectangular cushion vs radiant? I definitely do love radiants but I know that they can be difficult to find with the best sparkle and shine.

Another consideration - a preference for a 'rectangle' can indicate a preference for stones longer than they are wide (duh), but orientating north-south on the finger can elongate the finger which is visually very appeasing.

My personal fav for this is an elongated cushion, but that may not be your (beloveds) preference.
