I gotta say that my stone is gorgeous and it''s ideal cut, BUT had we found PS before, my ring would not have come in the blue box.

Well your ring is the bomb, so blue box or not, it''s in my top 5 of the prettiest rings EVER.

Thanks sweetie!!!!

In fact, Im still on the fence about copying it....not quite as large as yours unfortunately...

This is a DiamCac model showing (in the lower right of the dialogue box) how much indexing of the facet needs to occur in order to creat that girdle effect.

This is one of the new controls on the sooooon to be released DiamCalc free upgrade.

And this is what a Tolkowsky proportioned diamond would look like if it had that girdle treatment.

Now if tiffany have trained gemmologists who took those photo''s and built that tutorial, then I am glad they will not be applying to work with me after they leave Tiffany.

Perry;

As for your comment about there cut...have you ever seen a Tiffany stone?

They sparkle like crazy, so I dont really know what you mean when you say the diamonds are not not greatly cut

Pad:

Yes. I have seen several.

Within their store - almost all diamonds sparkle like crazy. This has to do with lighting. Out in the real world; they may or they may not. Depends on cut quality.

Now I am not saying that Tiffany is a bad store; and their diamonds are probably better than average in cut quality. However, if what you want is guaranteed sparkle iin the real world- you wont get that at Tiffany. I have seen nothing to indicate that they focus on selecting only the best cut diamonds. There just arn''t that many of them out there.

The rest is just marketing hype. Nothing wrong with that - as long as you know that and can separate fact from fiction.

I hope that you are a bit better educated now.

If you want a Tiffany diamond just to have a Tiffany diamond - by all means... May I suggest that you go into the store with an IdealScope in your pocket or purse. Then you can select a really good one.

Best of luck with this.

Perry
