I was just reminded of a line used a lot on Ally McBeal.

In the words of Richard Fish:

"Bygones!"

Got any favorite quotes from film or tv? Maybe a song?

A few movie ones I can think off at the moment.

"You can't be anal retentive if you don't have an anus." (multiple Kevin Smith movies)

"Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn for Sega." (Mallrats)

"What are you looking at? Wipe that face off your head, b--tch. " (also from Dazed and confused)

The exchange between Hooper and Banky from the beginning of Chasing Amy about the "holy trilogy". I know it verbatim. Actually that hwole movie has so many quotables, but most are not probably safe for anyone else's workplace so I won't put them in here. The only one that is probably ok is "Bring on the free hooch! " The rest are filled with wonderful expletives.

Another seemingly appropo quote:

Captain Renault in Casablanca:

"Round up the usual suspects!"

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn...Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind

Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night...Margo Channing in All About Eve

You talking to me?...Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver

so many good ones I could go on and on

Oooo, good one! :wink2:

My favorite...especially given the circumstances :))

Joey on Friends:

"It's a moo point. You know . . . cow's opinion; doesn't matter."

It still makes me laugh.

Yup, love that quote.

Here is one that my Nanny always used to say. It's not from TV or a Movie, no clue who taught her this, but it's been my motto for many years now...

Leave it lay where Jesus flung it...

It kinda says it all for me....

I liken it to, if it ain't broke don't fix it...

:praise:

"I shall go down in history as the man who opened a door!" - Leonardo DaVinci in Ever After

"Who here feels like they have no idea what they're doing?" - George Grey's Anatomy

"Adulthood is responsibility. Responsibility, it really does suck. Really, really sucks. Adults have to be places and do things and earn a living and pay the rent." - Meredith Grey's Anatomy

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." Gandalf The Fellowship of the Ring

"Breathe. Just Breathe. " Danielle - Ever After

"For my world is as forbidden as it is fragile; without its mysteries it cannot survive." - memoirs of a geisha

"At the temple, there is a poem called "Loss", carved into the stone. It has three words...but the poet has scratched them out. You cannot read "Loss"... Only feel it." Memoirs of a Geisha

"None of us find as much kindness in this life, as we should." - Chairman Memoirs of a Geisha

"you have to savor life while you can." - Chairman Memoirs of a Geisha

OMG how did I miss that after watching so many episodes? That's awesome. . .

"Lost! I said we're lost!"

"Have you tried Hare Krishna?"

The Muppet Movie.

I'm a dork . . .

I thought I saw all of them too. That's priceless. And leave it where Jesus flung it is terrific.

My own favorite is something Groucho Marx says to Margaret Dumont (a large lady) while he's romancing her-""Meet me in the garden tonight. It'll just be you and the moon. The moon and you. You wear a scarf so I'll know ya"

Groucho was the funniest of the Marx Bros. And not just a little risque. :naughty:

Another risque comedian:

Mae West: "A hard man is good to find." :naughty:

"It's amazing. You look like a normal person, when in reality, you're the Angel of Death." - "When Harry Met Sally."

"Youse fancy-pants, all'a youse." - "Miller's Crossing." Truth be told, all of "Miller's Crossing" - I think I can do the entire script from memory, including the bit where they play "Danny Boy," although, frankly, none of you have done anything near bad enough to me for me to sing at you.

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." - "The Princess Bride." This one is applicable far too often both in student papers, and on the internet at whole.

More as they occur ....

Could there even be quotes that are not quotable?

"I don't want to belong to any club that would accept people like me as a member." - Groucho Marx

A noteworthy philosophy that more people should consider adhering to.

And why do I think you see yourself in this quote? :wink2:

"You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes
You just might find
You get what you need" --The Rolling Stones

"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves that we are underlings"--Shakespeare

"You f :) with me, you f :) in with the best"--Tony Montana (Scarface)

"It's amazing. You look like a normal person, when in reality, you're the Angel of Death." - "When Harry Met Sally."

I'd forgotten that one; perfect in so many instances. :appl:

And Madame Bijoux, I've actually used that Rolling Stones song lyric a time or two.

I'll exercise a BIT of restraint on the Holy Grail, but it'll be hard. There is hardly a day goes by that doesn't offer up some situation begging for an MP quote....

Please please! This is supposed to be happy occasion! Let's not bicker and argue over 'oo killed 'oo!" ~ Lord of Swamp Castle

HELP HELP!! I'm bein' repressed! ~ Dennis

Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds, distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. ~ Dennis again

A person is smart. PEOPLE are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. ~ Agent K

The plural of anecdote is not data. - no idea who, but it's brilliant, and applicable every.single.day.

And of course my line below is Princess Bride, another totally quotable movie.

If it’s true that our species is alone in the universe, then I’d have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. (George Carlin)

Isn’t it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do “practice”? (George Carlin)

Steel Magnolias is one of my treasure troves:

"Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion!"

"Ouiser, I love you more than my luggage."

"I am about at the end of my rope with you." "Well, then why don't you tie a noose and slip it 'round your head?"

"Miss Truvy, I promise that my personal tragedy will not interfere with my ability to do good hair."

I'm going to stop now. Gah, I love that movie.

Groucho takes a pratfall. They pick him up & plop him in a chair. "Force brandy down my throat!" he fake-croaks.

"There is a land of life and a land of death, and the bridge is love, the only survival, the only meaning." -- Thornton Wilder, Bridge of San Luis Rey.

'Have fun storming the castle!" -The Princess Bride (really, the whole movie, which I know by heart; I mean really, 'You are going to have quite a headache when you wake up, but in the meantime, sleep well and dream of large women', 'Mawige', 'My name is Inigo Montoya'...it just goes on!)

'I'm kind of a big deal' - Anchorman

'Thanks for that, you useless reptile' - How to Train Your Dragon

When asked what the most romantic song is, Phoebe replies, 'Oh, that's easy, it's that one Elton John wrote for Tony Danza; Hold me close, young Tony Danza.' - Friends

'I see Lisa! Oh no, it's just a starfish.' -Homer, The Simpsons

great thread, thanks!

YAAAYYY!!

I was so nervous that I was going to be the only one posting silly, funny lines. Your taste in movies is amazing

One of my favorites is Christmas Vacation.
"That there's an RV!"
"Grace? Grace died 30 years ago!"
"Hallelujah, holy sh*t. Where's the tylenol??"

Also, the Princess Bride
"He's been mostly dead all day."
"I'll call the Brute Squad" "I'm on the Brute Squad" "On the Brute Squad? You ARE the Brute Squad!"
