I need to decide in the next 24 hours!!!

Diamond will go in this setting: http://www.signedpieces.com/item.cfm?item_id=3581

#1 WF ACA H&A RB 1.597 J VS1 http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-171969.htm

#2 GoG H&A 1.73 J SI1 (totally eye clean per Jonathan) http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/3798/

This is an upgrade of sorts from a not-so-wll cut eye clean SI2 I "Very Good" cut that faces up small.

Please help me decide! They both end up being the same price after discounts.

Which would you choose and why?

The GOG gets a 2.2 on the cut advisor with vg/vg/vg/vg in each category and falls just north of AGS0 box.

The WF scores a 1.0 on the cut advisor, ex/ex/ex/vg and is just south of the magical white box.

I''m no expert, but I''d go with the WF, it should have better overall light return and will be a little fireier, even if it is 0.19 mm smaller.

Thanks! The search engine on PS was showing the G0G stone as a 1.9 on the HCA... I am leaning towards the WF ACA H&A, but just wanted some additional advice!

Even though it is a slightly smaller stone, I agree with Mercoledi and would pick the WF stone. I know it''s somewhat smaller but it has a much better HCA score.

If I remember rightly, the HCA can ding a diamond with a steeper pavillion angle, so this could account for the GOG stone''s score, it is a very fine diamond. Either would be lovely, I guess it depends on your size preferences!

Yes, it doesn''t like deeper pavillions. But as long as they''re not too deep, and cut tight (which this one is), they''re fine.

And really, the HCA is only for determining if a stone is worth more investigation. If so, you move on to Sarin reports, ASET, IS pics, which you have now. The HCA''s job of "predicting a possibly good stone" is done.

Either would be gorgeous, I''d go for the bigger one.

Arrrgggh! I am SO torn! I love the idea of the VS1 clarity of the WF stone, but on the other hand I also love the larger size of the GoG stone.

Decisions, Decisions...

Okay, using the crown and pavilion angles on the HCA for the G0G 1.73 SI1 J H&A - it scores a 1.6 - Excellent within TIC range

and putting in the crown and pavilion depths it scores a 1.2 Excellent within TIC range

I think I found my stone!!!

Congrats!!! Nice size too!!!

I was about to say...wait a minute! That 1.7 stone is AGS0 with ideal light performance! I don''t even put numbers in the HCA for stones that have already made the grade for ideal light performance! So unless you just wanted a smaller stone with higher clarity, there would be no reason not to choose the larger stone!

I just came back from wiring the $ to G0G for the 1.73

Congrats! I didn''t see this in time to contribute before you took the plunge, but I was definately going to vote for the BIGGER one for sure! I have a AGS000 J SI2 and LOVE it. Ooooh, I can''t wait to see your new baby all set and on your finger!
