Anyone have an opinion on this stone just from the specs here? I saw it through an IS and it looked fine to me, but I'm no expert. The jeweler told me it was perfectly cut, "super ideal." HCA scores well, but you guys seem to have better takes on it. I'm just second-guessing myself!

Depth: 61.3%
Table: 55%
Crown Angle: 34.5°
Crown Height: 15.5%
Pavilion Angle: 40.8°
Pavilion Depth: 43.0%
Star length: 55%
Lower Half: 75%
Girdle: Thin to Medium, Faceted

Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: Medium Blue

ya, looks promising from the numbers.

Hi shouldI,

The diamond has excellent numbers, even allowing for variance due to angle rounding, these proportions are pretty safe. If I were looking, I would be very interested in this diamond. Med blue fluorescence is a nice addition I think too.

What are the colour and clarity grades please?

Yay! I just started to have doubts about how well the HCA predicted performance and was worrying I relied on it too much (from reading the AGS0 vs HCA thread). Eye-clean, just has small twinning wisps on the diagram (which explains my other post).

It's Measurements: 9.35 - 9.39 x 5.75 mm
Carat Weight: 3.06 carat
Color Grade: F
Clarity Grade: SI1
Cut Grade: Excellent

Full report can be found here: http://www2.gia.edu/reportcheck/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.showReportVerification&reportno=1122609251&weight=3.06

I really wanted PERFECT cut, like as perfect as I can get it for maximum performance.

Don't worry about any HCA predictions, it is used for rejection, not selection, nor for predicting performance.

This is A HUGE rock and I would DEFINITELY be interested if it was me, well cut 3 caraters do not grow on trees and especially eyeclean SI clarity stones ( if you are positive it is).

It is! I went and looked at it, actually chose it over a nearly identical stone that was VS2 because I decided it wasn't worth the extra chunk of $$ for a better clarity grade.

The reason I posted is because I had actually rejected some AGS0s that popped up in my search because they didnt score below 2. Then I read the recent thread and was like, uh oh...

But thanks for the reassurance, now all there is left to do is wait patiently! I did SO much research from this site that I called in a few stones and all of them were superstars in cut - I just found that I couldn't even go down to a G, so had to go higher. Funny thing is, I think the other two stones that I seriously considered are now sold too!

It can be a bit confusing, sounds like you now have the idea how the HCA is used, it is just for rejection and all AGS0 cut grade diamonds are worth further investigation with images etc even if the HCA scores over 2, also there are plenty of GIA graded diamonds that are also worth further consideration that score over 2. I have seen the occasional AGS0 which wasn't quite up to the standards of others, but these are rare.

I really like the sound of the stone you have chosen, when will you know if you can have it or not? One thing, do check the diamond out away from any bright store lighting as inclusions can jump out in plain daylight whereas bright store lighting can mask them somewhat on occasion.

I (or the bf, really) bought it and it's now being set! The PS vendor had a "natural light" lamp that we checked everything under, but we didn't go outside or anything. I definitely can't stand those jewelry store lights, they make everything so blindingly sparkly. From the top, I can't see anything at all. From one side, up against a white surface, if I look super closely, there are TINY specks that make up the wisp, but that's only if you were truly studying the stone from THISCLOSE. Once it's set, who knows if they'll be visible. In any case, I think I got literally THE single best cut stone in inventory around these specs! Thanks to PS, of course. I can't wait til I get it and can show it off in SMTB.... :naughty:

I will comment back when I get it - I can't waaaaaaaiiitttttt. There's a two week turnaround time from last week, but who knows when the question will be popppppped!
