Questions re: diamond, shipping to place that has setting, and insurance

I found a setting I want but since it will be custom fit to my stone, I think I should buy the diamond FIRST.
I have to find a 1 carat stone.

Then I have to ship it to the setting guy. I guess I''ll verify it''s my stone with a # engraved in it?

Then what insurance do i use for shipping the stone? What about when i buy the diamond? What insurance - where do you get and how much is the insurance on a diamond?

You buy insurance from the postal service/shipping courier.
