I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum. Let me know.

Here is my question:

I have some old gold which I have no use for, mostly 14 and 18K.
If I were to try to sell it, what can I expect to get for it?
What are the best ways for me to sell it?

Thanks a lot

I just sold some old gold at my local b&m. Price of gold is going up, so you might be surprised how much you''ll get for it. I know I was. There are also some websites like this one that will buy gold from you. I''ve never tried it myself but I have heard commercials about it.

And that''s all I know...

I found a place that will give you 97% of the actual value of the god. You send it to them, they assay (melt and seperate the gold from other metals) what you send in, and send you a check for the the value of the gold (they also pay you for silver and a couple of other metals). It takes about 10 days, but in the end you get a check from LOYDS of London along with an analysis of the metals that you sent in. This company actually sends it to London and it is refined at a place with an indipendant assay person to avoid any conflict of interests; they pay you based on the current London market price of the paticular day. This company also takes care of shipping...thats another reson why I choose to go with them (other refinires wouldnt pay shipping and paid out less %, I think the highest I found was 94%).

It is really a service for dentists and jewelers, I found out about it from my brother who is a dentist. Anyway, it is a very reputable company and endorced by a large number of professional assoiations. Depending on how much scrap you have, you will get substantially more from selling it this way than if you were to sell it to a jeweler (if it isnt anything they can sell, a jeweler is only going to send it out to be refined anyway...cut out the middle man!).

I sent in 183grams of gold and silver scrap, mostly 14k and one silver bracelet that weighed somthing like 60grams. The most competitive jeweler offered me $850.00, I got a check for $1054.00-its enough of a difference to justify waiting 10 days.

Here is the website: www.easyrefine.com
To get the process started I recommend calling the Michigan Dental Asso (dont have to be a dentist, somehow MDA gets a cut) at 1-800-860-2272 ex465, the nice lady will send you the ''kit,'' a prepaid fedex box to send your scrap in.

Best of luck. I am telling you, you wont get more $$ for your gold unless you open up your own shop!
