Hello everyone!

I''m curious as to how much visual difference there would be between two AGS0 ideal RBs with ~0.2 mm difference in diameter -- all other qualities being equal. Would it be worth going with the bigger stone for extra $$$ or could you not really tell the difference? The carat weight difference would be ~0.15 carats - comparing a 1.6 carat to a 1.75 carat. Approximate measurement differences - 7.54 mm vs. 7.75 mm respectively.

Any insight would be appreciated

I would see a difference and would most likely go for the larger diamond.

to be honest there really isn''t a visual difference. Think about it this way, 0.2mm is LESS than the thickness of a standard business card(my card is 0.35mm). however the 1.75cts. is considered a premium size in the diamond market, generally premium sizes sell for a higher price per carat than a 1.60cts. would.

Probably not noticeable unless the two stones are side by side. Take a look at your ruler and see if you can see a difference of 0.2mm

It depends on the sizes of the stones being compared, the conditions and the level of scrutiny/eyesight of the viewer.

... 3.00 vs 3.20mm is more obvious than 9.00 vs 9.20mm.

... Side by side & unset a small difference is more obvious than comparing rings while holding drinks in your free hands.

... Someone working to find a slight difference will see one more quickly than someone admiring two pretty diamonds.

... A 16 year old will see up-close differences faster than a 60 year old (sorry everyone).

In common sizes you'll get different answers as to how visible a difference of 0.2mm is.

There will be a noticeable difference if the diamonds are compared side by side, however the difference is going to be minor.

Someone should do a photoshop mockup of what this would look like...

Impossible to be accurate for everyone, since the world uses different resolutions and monitor-sizes.

For example, here''s 7.54 vs 7.57mm below, but it will only be in-scale if you have a 17" display set to 1280x1024 pixels. I suppose someone could upload a PDF attachment with them to-scale at 300dpi on 8.5x11" paper for printing...

Actually I have compared diamonds of a similar weight, well cut and similar face up size in the past when I was looking and to me there was a distinct difference even without direct comparison. However I do tend to pick up on these things easily.

What he said.

It wouldn''t be worth the price difference to me, but I''m not a real size person either.
