Hi there,
I''ve been reading alot of posts on this subjects and have few questions about the custom making process at WF for their Diamonds for Eternity e-ring setting...

1) I prefer yellow gold (14k over 18k actually) - would they have to make this a "custom" ring, as their stock choices only include 14k and 18k white gold and platinum. I know custom costs more, but I''m wondering HOW much more of a difference could it be with yellow gold? (I would do the platinum head for the safety purpose).

2) If the above does make my ring then turn into a "custom" piece, I prefer the 6 prong (like Mara''s buttercup head) and would make that change for the stock piece''s 4 prong head.

3) My ring size is a 3.5 and my SO and I are looking at diamond sizes 1.15 to 1.25 carat. I love the look of a thin band, however I read one of Lynn B''s posts that exlpained there was more subtle sparkle associated with the 2 pointers vs the 3 pointers diamonds. Would the 2 pointers not be very noticeable? The space between my hand and first knuckle is only 2 cm, so I''m thinking I may need to go with the 2 pointer band for both e-ring and wedding band.

4) And finally, to give my SO an idea of how much the setting is going to cost, does anyone have any experience with this? I know it''s a personal question and please do not answer if you find it offensive, but my SO just wants a ballpark figure for the total cost so he knows how much to expect to pay when the time comes (within 6 months).

copy your post and email it to wf. you will get the most accurate answers that way.
or, alternatively, you could call.

no sense guessing!

LOL, Belle! You are right, I just e-mailed them.

yay! i hope they get back to you with some answers soon! it sounds like it''s going be a lovely ring.
did you ever see lll''s ring? i forgot what size the stones were in her band.
i''ll go look it up.

okay, she had a pave band. i forgot that part. i just remembered the lovely yellow gold and that beautemous buttercup head!

Beautiful, thanks for sharing!

I always thought I would want a 4 prong, but after seeing some of the ladies 6 prong buttercup heads on here, they look amazing! It really accentuates the diamond.

let me know what you find out!!! I was JUST wondering about that for another of their settings.....and I was thinking of starting a thread! So keep us posted!

here''s a pic of my WF eternity band made with 3 pointers and my 1 carat solitaire on a size 3 1/2..

also, i think 2 pointers in a shared prong setting would still sparkle. it''s when stones are pave set, like lynn b''s current rings that they shimmer more than sparkle...

So...Bob got back to me in lightning time about my questions last night (Thanks!). Basically, it would be considered a "semi custom" piece, and they can make it to all my specifications (14k YG, 3/4 eternity with 2 pointers in a shared prong and platinum 6 prong buttercup head).

The price would be approximately $1400.

However, Bob did say that with the 6 prong, the w-band would not sit as flush. This begs the question...4 or 6 prongs?? I think that kind of head is gorgeous on a RB diamond, but I would like them flush. Also a concern is the diamonds from the w-band eating away at the setting...yikes. Would this be something to worry about?

The 2 pointers would sparkle, just like you all said, so I think I will stick with them. That way the total width of my e-ring and w-band would be ~4mm. I don''t think I can go much bigger with the limited space on my finger.

Mrssalvo, the 1 ct on your finger looks huge! (I hope mine will, too, lol!) Very beautiful set

Any feedback/experiences with this type of setting is appreciated!!
