Hello,
I was just wondering if the experts (or anyone who knows about cushion cuts) can offer any advice. We are looking for a square cushion around 2 ct. The ones that we have seen so far just do not look right. They are much more sparkly then I had envisioned, and less pillow shaped, and more flat too. They look almost like princess cuts, with rounded corners, or like radiants. But the jewelers are telling us they are excellent cuts. There have been a few that we have come upon, that are rectangular, that have the large facets and cushiony shape I love, but no squares like this.
One reputable jeweler told us that because a square shaped stone is symmetrical, you will not get that true cushiony look. Is this true?
Also, we have no idea what to look for in terms of a well cut stone. We are just sort of seeing stones, and trying to find one that looks good to us. Does anyone have ANY tips at all about what a well cut square cushion should look like? For instance, should it be shallow, or deep? Are there any guidelines to go by with this shape? Does anyone know of some qualities a well cut square cushion should or shouldn''t have? How do I know if I''ve found a good one?
I really appreciate any tips.
Thank you in advance!
